I have lots of fun Young Woman Activity Ideas and cute printable handouts so you can make the most of your calling in the church.
Okay guys! I have a post like this for every calling I have in my church–and so when I got called to Young woman’s five years ago –I started this! I’ve now been released (I already miss my girls so much!) So it’s time I push PUBLISH! This post is a big grouping of fun handouts and activities that we have done! Hope it helps anyone else that is looking for a little something extra for their young woman girls.
First things first- here are some Young Woman posts I’ve already published:
- Prayer tear off printable
- yearly youth theme printables
- The Amazing race (service project!)
- Getting to know you printables! Great for beginning of the year or new leaders!
- Church Escape room activity
Young Woman Activity Ideas and handouts
I maybe should of organized these better- But I literally would just add them as we did them! So they are all mixed in together! At the bottom of the post I have a big list of ideas that the girls came up with to do that I thought I would pass on!
Read the book of Mormon bookmark
This bookmark was for when Pres Nelson asked us to read the book of Mormon FAST! So I found this fun bookmark printable –I made some pom poms (which I’ve since taught the girls how to do and they LOVE them) and added a scented pen! They were in a big bucket and the girls picked the color scheme they wanted!
Zombie lesson
This was a lesson on being prepared/self reliance…so I, of course, had to bring in zombies. Everyone got zombie ooze (slime).
This was a zombie I drew and put at the back of the room. I asked girls questions and if they couldn’t do it, they had to go back and be a zombie. Questions included:
- Being able to do your own laundry
- Starting a fire
- Baking cookies
- using tools
- grocery shopping
- paying bills (naming bills that people paid each month)
- basic first aid
- Setting up a tent
Etc.
Then we talked about how to survive a zombie apocalypse. Everything we need to know is in the book ( it’s the Book of Mormon with a cover on it.) Then we dove into general conference talks about how to become self reliant etc.

Girls Camp Crafts
I did a whole big posts about girl’s camp crafts.
Our most popular girls camp craft was these watercolor knock offs! They were a hit! I created the inspirational prints just for girls camp! We even did an activity with the technique and made a bunch of thank you cards to give out to members that have helped us!
Friendship bracelets
We are huge friendship bracelets fans. (We make SO Many at camp.) But I came up with this cute bracelet hand out (they can diy their own OR you can braid them beforehand!) This tied into my lesson by the way! They go GREAT with this video!
Friendship bracelet printables are here!
Book of Mormon read-a-thon
I loved this activity so much! It was one long activity 4 oc’clock to 9 o’clock. We told the girls they could bring a blanket, camp chairs, air mattress etc and we just cranked out reading the scriptures (for President Nelson’s challenge!)
Our president came up with this cute candy incentive!
Everytime you read about a name could couldn’t pronounce- you got a peach ring.
For every chapter read- sour patch watermelon!
We took breaks every hour to play games (like minute to win it type of games!) and had a dinner break- PIZZA! Loved this activity! It was super fun to just devote some time to reading!
Flamingo Printable
Another printable (I’m a sucker for Flamingos almost as much as I’m a sucker for cute handouts!) Got these flamingo pens on Amazon!
I found these on pinterest and I can’t find a direct source! But here are the links! You might find some cute ones on Etsy as well!
(I added the treasured daughter part and left out an a! oops!)
Beginning of the school year handout
Like I said, I love a cute handout! This is one that we handed out at the beginning of the school year
Top Secret Missionary Activity
Our lesson was on having a missionary experience. So I decided to give each girl a TOP secret assignment! Just a cute little reminder that they could stick on their mirror!
You can grab the printables for this secret mission here!
Minute to Win it race
We split girls into groups. Each group had a number. Each group had 7 envelopes hidden around the church. They had to go into each room (not the chapel of course). Find their envelope and perform the task. Rules: They MUST stay together. (Each group had a leader that supervised) Each person has to have an opportunity to participate. (One person can’t just do all the challenges).
Here was some of our challenges. The envlope in the primary had the instructions to wipe down 5 chairs. Take a selfie with the bishopric, solve a puzzle, run around the church, Toss a ball etc! I was trying to get social, physical, intellectual and spiritual all in one!
Kitchen had a plate of whip cream with 5 gummy worms hidden inside was a big hit.
As well as racing to pull the kleenex out of the box with one hand
They ran from room to room, find their envelope, perform their task, and then move on. When they had all 7 evelopes, they came back to the young woman’s room to make a paper airplane! It was just a fun activity to do when it’s stinking cold outside!
There are so many amazing minute to win it games around that you can easily find some if you want to add a few! I think this took about 30 minutes to accomplish it all. I did hide the envelopes pretty hard in some rooms!
The puzzle was just a fun one I found in an old edition of the Friend! There are lots of printables online!
Fiery Darts of the adversary
One of my favorite lessons involved a nerf gun and princess figurines. We lined up some princesses (think Mcdonalds toys) These represented us. And then we passed around the nerf gun (the fiery darts of the adversary) and each girl named things that are bringing them down–or something that is standing in their way or making their life hard. Some of the things that were named:
- Brothers
- netflix
- bullies
- school
- boys
- friends
Then we had blocks (we used hymn books) and each girl got one and named something they can do to build up a wall of protection.
- Read their scriptures-place a book in front of the princesses.
- Say prayers. another book.
- Take the sacramanet
- Participate in come follow me so on and so forth.
This time the girls took aim at the princesses they couldn’t’ knock them down because they were protected by the gospel principles (hymn books!!)
Tested, tried and stretched
ANOTHER handout! Keep in mind0 5 years in Young Womans! I didn’t give handouts and gifts EVERYTIME we had young womans! But this one was just part of the lesson and I knew dollar tree had silly putty so it was a cute little printable to whip up!
Tested tried and stretched printable.
Glow in the dark Volleyball
We’ve done this a few times because the girls love it! You need a glowing light up ball and TONS of glow sticks! We threaded them all around the volleyball net and then each girl had some! If you have anyone in the neighborhood with glow in the dark lights- put them around the gym for extra fun!
Basic Sewing Activity
Another activity! Sewing Basics. I taught the girls:
- how to thread a needle
- fix a tear
- sew on a button!
I gave each girl a scrap fabric and we just sewed! (hand stitched!). It’s a great life skill!
Scripture stencils
We did this for activity days–but it would be fun to do for Young Woman (except so many girls bring their phones and not actual scriptures!) Scripture Stencils!
Prayer activity
Another activity was focused on prayer. We ate prayer pretzels (the Pretzels are to remind you to fold your arms) and decorated prayer rocks.
I have always heard that the prayer rocks were to put on your pillow, so when you laid down at night you hit your head on it to remind you to say your prayers. Then you toss it on the floor and when you wake up and get out of bed you stub your toe to remind you to say your prayers in the morning. There are lots of great stories about prayer and I can’t remember what one we listened to before we made our rocks. We created HOT ROCKS for our prayer rocks! (so satisfying! But you could use paint!)
Direct thy paths handout
I took around some fun treats for my girls first week of school. I made these bracelets –charms are from here. They are a compass so there are so many good quotes about choosing the right and following the iron rod. So I wrote a nice note about making sure to follow the spirit as you go through your school year (I also included airheads and smarties in the bag cause we love treats!)
LDS FEUD!
It was a fun activity–one thing I learned…the older leaders have totally different answers than the young woman! Lol! So they can play along! Leaders against kids or throw a few leaders in wiht the kids to balance it out!
Butterfly Handout
We talked about the butterfly from this talk: how-like the butterfly–when it’s breaking out of its cocoon it’s hard to break out-but it strengthens their wings so they can fly. Hard can be good!
We also have handed out these butterflies–(I paired put them with burt’s bees chapstick!) Get the butterfly printables here!
Escape Room
Another super fun activity! We love a good church themed escape room!
Geo Caching
Download this app on your phone. It will pull up geos that are around where you are. We had a good dozen within a mile! We made it to 4- and only found 1! They were hidden so hard! Such a fun activity even though it was a little frustrating!
Desert Industries
We are close to a Desert Industries (church owned thrift store). We’ve done a few activites there! We have bought shirts to wear at girl’s camp. Each girl got a few dollars and had to try to find the best item for that price point. We also did this thrift store hunt. Girls had to take photos with each random item around the store!
Amazing Race Service Project!
I thought this was so fun! Lots of service got done- but disgused as a game so the girls had a good time! Go here to read all about it!
Untalented show
Our camp director put on an untalented show at girls camp and it was SO HILARIOUS! It’s the perfect time to showcase your untalent! Double jointed? You snort when you laugh? Burp the alphabet? Sing the ABC backwards! We had a few girls sign up beforehand, but as people started going, other’s would think of someting and jump up “perform it”. One girl did the best impression of kronk from emperor’s new groove! We still laugh about it!
