Make the perfect Halloween decor- DIY Gravestone pillow with free svgs! These easy and cute projects can be made in an afternoon!

I have buying all sorts of fun shaped pillows for each holiday! And I decided that I wanted to DIY a gravestone pillow! Lucky for me, it turned out even easier than I thought! I included some FREE SVGS along with this tutorial so you can make one as well!

I made so many different headstones! I’m not sure why I loved drawing them- but I did! There are so many options- blank ones to fill in your own funny phrases or inside jokes. There are ones with puns (like Noah Scape).

And then my personal favorites- Ones from some of my favorite movies! Harry Potter, Hocus Pocus, Clue, BeetleJuice, and one from Haunted Mansion. You can one or all and make so many fun things!

- Silhouette Cameo PRO (cuts 24 inches wide)
- Cricut Maker
How to cut out SVG Cut files
Once you download the cut files to your computer here is how you open them in different software. I did cut my pillows out 10-12 inches wide so the 12×24 sheet of HTV worked great.
SVG Instructions for Cricut:
- Open Cricut Design Space
- Click “New Project.”
- Select “Upload” from the bottom left toolbar.
- Choose your file.
- Click “Add to Canvas.”
- Adjust size to the size of your vinyl blank
- Load vinyl into your machine
- Click “Make It.”
- The software will send the information from Design Space to your Cricut machine.
- Follow the prompts to continue to cut.
- Make sure you select “mirror” on the cut screen since you are using iron-on.
SVG Instructions for Silhouette Cameo:
Keep in mind that SVGS only open in the designer edition of the silhouette software! The cut file also comes as a PNG and DXF that should work with the regular silhouette software edition.
- Open Silhouette Design Studio
- Click “open”
- Select your file.
- Once clicked the SVG will automatically be added to your studio.
- Adjust size to the size of your vinyl blank
- Load your vinyl into your silhouette.
- Click Send in the right-hand corner.
- Double-check that the correct material and settings are selected.
- Then push send.
- Make sure you select “mirror” on the cut screen since you are using iron-on.

Weed away the vinyl
Pull away any vinyl that is not part of the design. You can use a pin, a utility knife, tweezers, a weeding tool, or just your fingers! Black is hard to see when weeding so use sunlight or a bright light to see the lines!

Iron on
Once it’s ready to go, you are going to preheat your iron or press. Depending on what type of vinyl you use will depend on the temperature and length of the press. Verify the instructions first and then press accordingly!

Since I’m making a pillow- I put the placement of the vinyl a few inches from each edge so it give me room to sew around.

Make DIY pillow
I use the pressed vinyl design as a guide and cut the shape of the gravestone but leaving a 2 inch edge around the entire thing. I cut a front and back piece at the same time.

Putting the right sides together, I sew around the edge leaving an opening at the bottom to stuff it. (you can also use fabric glue if you aren’t into sewing!

Take your stuffing and fill it full. You can stuff it as much as you want!

Sew the opening closed. I used a whipstich. You could also just use your sewing machine or fabric glue.

Enjoy your cute new pillow (or 5 new pillows depending on how many you make!) They are soft and cute and add so much Halloween spookiness!

I know the new trend is Halloween pastels- So if that is your vibe- try this on pink or purple fabric!
