Learn how to make these waterproof eyes for the coolest yard monsters! They add an extra layer of awesomeness to any Halloween decorations!

I might be 12…but these yard monsters totally have me giggling (mental image of me running around the church putting them in every bush and tree around #crazyblogger) I think they are so cute to put in your front yard for Halloween (and hey…I’m not judging–you can leave them up all year!)
Supplies you need to make the EYES
Here is what you need:
- White plastic plates (dollar tree)
- Hot glue gun
- Tape
- black Vinyl
- scissors
- Skewers
I used all the different sizes of Plastic white plates that they had!

How to make the yard monsters
Step 1 Make the Eyeballs
I laid out my black vinyl and sized it out. I just took scissors and hand-cut some circles but you can use your electronic cutter if you have one. You can also lay down a few different-sized bowls to trace to give you exact circles.

I like to have a few different sizes. Here are a few different combos laid out. Check out the size of the eyes and the size of the pupils! Big and big. Big and small. Small and small! Lots of variety!

Step 2: Double up
Even though the plates are plastic, they are pretty thin. I ended up hot gluing two plates together to make a thicker base for my eyes.
Step 3: Make a pick
Using hot glue, I secured a skewer on the back of each eyeball. Then cover it with packing tape to secure it!

With the skewers, it’s easier to get it to stay where you want it in the bush!
Step 4: Add to bushes
By using plastic plates and vinyl, that makes these eyeballs waterproof! But that doesn’t make them windproof! You might need to zip-tie the skewer to a branch if you have some rough winds as we do! (Idaho!)

I just walked around my yard and placed the eyeballs all around! They turned out so darn cute!

I think it makes my bushes look like these guys!

I had to share all of these photos because they are all so fun! Each bush looks so different! You can also fashion up a nose and mouth and make a whole face!Â

VARIATIONS of yard monsters:
- Cover the plate with Glow in the Dark paint for a fun surprise when the sun goes down!

- 2. Dollar Tree has eyeballs. They add a creepy element! Just superglue them to the plastic plate.
