Today I have an easy no sew banner-Super cute for any holiday (or just because) These are all Christmasy ones–because tis the season!
And guess what…HOT glue is how I make them! (this post may contain affiliate links)
We did these for a craft night…and it’s always fun to see all the creativity that comes from everyone! Same ingredients and each one is so different!
Here is what you need:
- canvas-duck cloth-or fabric
- dowels
- ribbons
- heat transfer vinyl
- Cut files (most are here!)
I used this as an excuse to use some of the new vinyl from Expression vinyl
It’s totally hard to get pictures of because it’s all so shiny and pretty. Here is the heat transfer vinyl I used Holographic, Electric, Metallic and GLITTER!!!
If you need help with Heat transfer vinyl head HERE. I pre cut them all out and made everyone weed out their own!
You will need a rectangle of fabric (I won’t put dimensions because you can make these BIG or small.) If you use canvas or duck cloth –it’s a pretty stiff fabric. But if you use just regular cotton you might need to add some interfacing to the back (I just bought some interfacing that was iron on!) So I just ironed it on the back of the rectangle. I fold in each side about an inch and iron.
Then fold down the top about 2 inches and iron.
Then it’s time to apply the heat transfer vinyl! Lay it down and press on the carrier sheet for 15 seconds each spot. You can see the iron covers the top part so I moved the iron down and pressed 15 seconds on the bottom part.Peel up carrier sheet! (Some heat transfer you peel up when it’s still warm…some are cold peel. Make sure to check HERE to see!)
After all my ironing is done…it’s time to hot glue. I hot glue both sides down. and hot glue the top part. You want to be able to get the dowel inside the pocket so only put glue on the edge!
This is what your banner looks like so far. (with vinyl on the other side!)
There are two ways to cut the bottom. I fold in half…Then you can either cut it one point or two points. Depends on if you start from the middle or the edge..
I personally like both ways!
Then just pick some ribbons or pom poms or bakers twine and accessorize as you please! I kind of love them all! I’m going to attach my Christmas card and ran them around to my neighbors! A great cheap Christmas gift!
(all of these words are hand lettered by me…and I’m working on putting them together for a free cut file for you! I’ll update this post when I do!!)
Which one is your favorite??
