• Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) also called iron-on vinyl
• A heat source – You can use an iron or a Cricut easypress 2

I buy all of my vinyl from Expressions Vinyl. It’s the best quality and they have SO MANY options! Quality vinyl is SO important! Make sure to check out their Machine and heat settings charts! They are so helpful to see at a glance what your blade depth or temperature needs to be! It’s the perfect addition to your silhouette projects!  (okay okay- This vinyl works great with Cricut & silhouette!)

Electronic Cutting Machine:

All these free SVG files are compatible with all the Cricut Machines, including the Cricut Explore,, Cricut Maker, Cricut Joy, Silhouette Cameo, and Silhouette Portrait. I have a silhouette cameo that I use almost daily and LOVE. If you are new to silhouette, I did create a whole Silhouette Love series!  I want everyone to love their silhouette as much as I love mine!

How to cut out the Thanksgiving Cut files

Once you download the cut files to your computer here is how you open them in different software.

SVG Instructions for Cricut:

1. Open Cricut Design Space
2. Click “New Project.”
3. Select “Upload” from the bottom left toolbar.
4. Choose your file.
5. Click “Add to Canvas.”
6. Adjust size to the size of your vinyl blank
7. Load vinyl into your machine
8. Click “Make It.”
9. The software will send the information from Design Space to your Cricut machine.
10. Follow the prompts to continue to cut.
11. Make sure you select “mirror” on the cut screen since you are using iron-on.

SVG Instructions for Silhouette Cameo:

Keep in mind that SVGS only open in the designer edition of the silhouette software! The cut file also comes as a PNG and DXF that should work with the regular silhouette software edition.

1. Open Silhouette Design Studio
2. Click “open”
3. Select your file.
4. Once clicked the SVG will automatically be added to your studio.
5. Adjust size to the size of your vinyl blank
6. Load your vinyl into your silhouette.
7. Click Send in the right-hand corner.
8. Double-check that the correct material and settings are selected.
9. Then push send.
10. Make sure you select “mirror” on the cut screen since you are using iron-on.
