I hope everyone had a nice relaxing memorial day!!!
We are officially in SUMMER MODE (Yikes!) I always do a panic….like how am I supposed to keep these kids entertained??? (and I don’t mean xbox, ipod, video games entertained)
SO–I’m going in summer survival mode!
all week long–fun games and crafts that will be inexpensive and easy to do to keep your kiddos busy (and out of your hair!) (WITH a BIG giant finale at the end!!!! HUGE! SO EXCITED FOR IT!)
first up: i guest posted this on a yarn series…but they are so fun and easy!! yarn bracelets!
Last time my sister came up we made these fun yarn bracelets her son had made for a school fundraiser! They are super easy and we had a blast making them!
Here’s what you need to make a yarn bracelet…
- A cardboard circle (we cut ours out of a back of a used notebook) with a whole in the middle and 8 notches around it.
- 7 ten inch strips of yarn tied into a knot (we bought yarn that is multicolored…) We have also used these with embroidery floss for a less chunkier bracelet
How to make a yarn frienship bracelet:
You are going to pop the knot through the hole
(this is the backside now)
then you take a string and put them each in a notch
you have one empty spot (8 notches…7 strings…) you find your empty spot…count 3 spaces over. Take that string out and move it the to empty spot.
Then you have a new empty spot…(where you took out the 3rd string)
so count three over and move the string to the empty notch and repeat and repeat and repeat!!!
you will start building a braid underneath–(you will have to pull it down every once in a while!)
and once it gets long enough you just take off from the cardboard and tie it onto your wrist
I’ve also heard this called jellyfish bracelet (cause they look like jellyfish!!)
You can see the bracelet is a lot thinner with the embroidery floss versus the yarn!

Thank you! My 5 and 7 year olds loved this! My 7 year old son has made about 10 so far since yesterday, and being the entrepreneur he is, plans are already in the works for selling them to the neighbor kids. LOL
