Today, I’m going to walk you through how to make the cutest Fourth of July STAR hair!
I occasionally impress myself and others by doing my kids’ hair all fancy and festive
It’s a very rare occasion.
and other times I impress myself that I remind them to brush their hair before we leave the house.
But today I wanted to show you this easy and cute hairstyle that my daughter rocked for the Fourth of July! It’s the perfect way to be patriotic!
Try creating this star at Christmas time with some tinsel or a poinsettia flower clip!

Supplies to make a star in your hair
- Rubber bands (whatever size depending on thickeness of hair)
- A comb with a tail
- A brush
- Ribbons (optional)
You can use blue, red, or white rubber bands for a fun pop of color!
How to make Fourth of July STAR hair!
Disclaimer: I’ve never tried this on short hair so I’m not sure if it works or not! Let me know if you have success with it!
Step 1:
Divide the top into three section. One middle and one on each side. Tie with a rubber band.

You will want the sides to be more towards the top than the middle!
Step 2:
Split the top into two braids.
Split one of the sides into two braids.
Take ONE of the braids from the side and cross over to the other side.

Tie it on that side with a rubberband.
Then braid ONE braid on that side (incorporating the ends of the crossed-over braid.
I have also braided all 3 sections with two braids and just crisscrossed the braids instead.
You should have half a stair shape forming.
Step 3:
Take a comb part the remaining hair down the middle and pull one side into a low ponytail (I think it’s easier to move the braids out of the way and just add them right before you add the rubber band.
You will take one braid from the top and one braid from the opposite side, thus making a STAR!!!!

Step 4: Bows
Tie on any fun ribbons or throw on a cute junque bow!
Alternative to braiding: Try twisting the hair instead! See the picture below!
