I’ve got super fun fun and festive 4th of july red white and blue hair bows! (that was the longest sentence) And you can use this technique to make any fun design! the secret is heat transfer vinyl!
Before we get to the how to—This is part of a super fun red white and blue blog hop!
okay! here’s how to make my bows!
Here’s what you need: ribbon and vinyl (and whatever you want to use to put in your hair!)
I used the smooth ribbon with the smooth heat transfer. and grosgrain ribbon with the glitter heat transfer (the glitter is thicker!)
I buy all my vinyl at Expressions vinyl. I just used a paper cutter to cut strips of the red….
Cut it the width of the ribbon and lay them spaced apart ( the shiny and bright part up) and then press with an iron for 15 seconds
(about medium heat!)
after it’s cool enough to touch…you peel up the clear plastic sheet that covers it! (this protects it from the iron)
The stars I ran through my Silhouette cameo I did it two ways because I wasn’t sure which way I was going to like it. You can either peel up the stars or peel up the vinyl around the stars. (p.s. You cut out the vinyl on the backside of the heat transfer!)
and iron on the same way
it’s fun to see all the different looks with basically the same technique!
Just make sure to melt the ends so they don’t fray!
Then you can just fold up in a bow…or I folded one in half and criss crossed it. Whatever your fancy be!
I hot glued a clip to the back (I buy these )
I love it because I don’t like making patriotic shirts that my kids will only wear once a year…so It’s a great way to show off your american pride without too much work!
make sure to check out my easy and fun fourth of july hair!
