Supplies to make Pumpkin Stamp art
- Apple (any size! I used a bruised one that no one would eat!)
- A sharp knife (adults only!)
- Orange washable craft paint
- A paper plate
- White paper, cardstock, or a brown paper bag for stamping
- Black marker or paint
- green marker or paint
- Optional: green construction paper and glue for leaves
How to make Pumpkin stamp art
Step 1: Cut the apple
(This part needs to be done by adult!) You will want to cut the apple as straight down as possible. I also had a serrated knife and you can see some of the lines in the prints! You could use a couple different knives to play around with textures!

Step 2: Spread out the paint
To get a really clean stamp, you will need to take a paint brush and spread out the paint so when you stamp the apple, it will cover it entirely

Step 3: paint apple
Placing your fingers on both sides, set the apple down into the paint and move it around a little bit. There might be a few sections that don’t have any paint on it. If that’s the case, you can take a paintbrush and cover any missing spots.

Step 4: Stamp
Press it firmly onto your paper to create your pumpkin shape. Each stamp will be slightly unique, which makes them extra fun!

I dipped the potato into paint each time I stamped. If any section doesn’t get covered with paint, you can fill it in with a paint brush.

Step 5: Let dry
This didn’t take too long- it just depends on how thick the paint is!
Step 6: Embellish
Once the paint is all dry, you can add in any fun details you want! Permanent markers and paint work well on top of the paint. You can cut out a jack-o’-lantern face out of black paper and glue onto the pumpkins. You can even use googly eyes!

Or you can take a fake leaf and glue it to the top of each pumpkin.

Why Kids Love It
Stamping is messy in the best way—it’s tactile, colorful, and gives instant results. Plus, kids get to feel like little artists as they make patterns and experiment with colors.
