๐ DIY Leaf Wreath Craft: A Simple Fall Project for kids Using Real Leaves and a Paper Plate to create a super fun decoration for Autumn.

Fall is the perfect time to bring the beauty of nature indoors โ and this DIY Leaf Wreath is a fun, easy way to do just that! Using just a paper plate, some real autumn leaves, and a little glue, you can make a colorful decoration that celebrates the season. Itโs a great craft for kids, families, or anyone who loves the cozy feel of fall.
๐ฟ What Youโll Need:
- 1 sturdy paper plate (I glued two together)
- Scissors
- Real leaves (freshly fallen or slightly dried work best)
- Glue, glue stick, or double-sided tape
- Ribbon or string (optional, for hanging)
๐ Instructions:
1. Cut out the wreath base.
Start by cutting the center out of your paper plate so that youโre left with a ring shape โ this will be your wreath base. The thicker the outer edge of the plate, the sturdier your wreath will be.

2. Paint
We painted the plate ring before we added leaves. This part is optional since we covered it pretty well.

3. Gather your leaves.
Head outside and collect a variety of fall leaves in different shapes, sizes, and colors. Try to find ones that arenโt too brittle so theyโre easier to glue on.

4. Glue the leaves in place.
Once youโre happy with the layout, start gluing your leaves onto the paper plate base. Press them down gently to help them stick. I started with bigger leaves first and then added in smaller ones to fill in.

Overlapping them slightly gives it a fuller, more natural look. If your leaves are curling, you can add a dab of extra glue under the edges.

5. Add finishing touches.
If you like, tie a ribbon or string at the top for hanging. You can even add small decorations like acorns, pinecones, or glitter for extra sparkle!

6. Let it dry and display.
Allow the glue on your wreath to dry completely, then hang it on a door, wall, or window to bring a touch of autumn charm to your home.

The leaves will dry and become brittle. As long as you aren’t messing with the wreath, it should still look good. The more you move it around, the leaves might break off and crumble.
๐ Tips:
- To make your wreath last longer, press your leaves between paper towels and a heavy book overnight before gluing.
- Want a pop of color? Paint a few leaves gold or white before adding them!
- This craft makes a great classroom or family activity โ everyoneโs wreath will be unique!
