Looking for a simple, spooky craft that’s perfect for Halloween or a rainy afternoon? This spiderweb craft made from popsicle sticks and yarn is an easy and fun way for kids to get creative while working on fine motor skills. Plus, the finished webs make adorable decorations — especially when you add a little spider friend!

This spiderweb craft is quick, budget-friendly, and perfect for all ages. Kids will love watching their yarn transform into a spooky little masterpiece — and you’ll love how easy it is to set up and clean up.
So grab your popsicle sticks and yarn — it’s time to get weaving!
What You’ll Need
- 3 popsicle sticks (wooden craft sticks)
- White paint
- White yarn (or use black, orange, or silver for a twist!)
- Glue or hot glue (with adult help)
- Scissors
- Black construction paper or a small plastic spider

How to Make Your Spiderweb
1. Build the Web Frame

Start by gluing three popsicle sticks together in the shape of a star or snowflake — like spokes of a wheel.
We used big and small sticks and 3 and 4 sticks! All worked great.

Let the glue dry completely before moving on.
2. Paint the popsicle sticks
Add on white paint to help tie in the white strings of the yarn.

Let dry completely before moving on.
3. Wrap the yarn
Take your yarn and glue or tie one end around the middle of the sticks. I wrapped it around each section about 3 times to cover up the middle of the sticks.

Then begin wrapping it around each stick in a circular pattern — over one stick, then around the next, continuing until you’ve gone all the way around several times. This is very similar technique we used when making a God’s Eye Craft.

Keep wrapping until your web looks just right! ✨ Tip: You can crisscross the yarn in different ways to make your web look more tangled and spooky!

We even did one just like the God’s eye by keeping the yarn close together- almost like weaving.

We alternated black and white to help create the spiderweb illusion. You just add glue to the hold the old string in place, and to hold the new color in place, then snip off the string of the color you aren’t using.
The back looked more like a spiderweb in our opinion!

4. Secure the End
When you’re happy with your web, cut the yarn and tie or glue the end to the back of a popsicle stick.

5. Add your spider
No web is complete without a spider! Cut a small spider shape from black paper, draw one with a marker, or glue on a little plastic spider toy right in the center.

Craft Tips
- Try using colored yarn for a more playful look.
- Add a loop of yarn at the top so you can hang your spiderweb in a window or from the ceiling.
- Sprinkle on a little silver glitter while the glue is still tacky for a sparkly, magical web!
- Add a magnet on the back to hang on your fridge for the cutest decor!
