Spooky Fun: Make a Mummy Craft Using a Gingerbread Cookie Cutter and white out for the perfect kids Halloween project.

If you’re looking for a simple, creative Halloween craft that’s perfect for kids, this mummy project is a total treat! Using a gingerbread cookie cutter as your stencil, you can make adorable little mummies that are great for decorating cards, bulletin boards, or even as Halloween party art. The best part? You only need a few basic supplies — and the result is spooky-cute!
Supplies You’ll Need
- A gingerbread man cookie cutter (any size works!)
- dark colored paper
- Pencil
- White-out or correction fluid pen
- Black marker or googly eyes
- Scissors
- glue

How to Make It
1. Trace Your Stencil
Place the gingerbread cookie cutter on your paper and use a pencil to trace around it. This will be the shape of your mummy — kind of like a little gingerbread man, but soon to be wrapped up tight! (I do have a GINGERBREAD PRINTABLE in case you don’t have a cookie cutter!)
You will want to use darker paper so the white mummy stripes really pop!

2. Cut out gingerbread shape
I did this step first because I thought it would be hard to see the lines to cut out once we add in the white stripes. If your kids are little, you mgiht want to do this last so the white stripes of the wite out doesn’t get all over the desk!

3. Add the Mummy Wraps
Take your white-out pen and start drawing uneven, crisscrossed lines across the body of your gingerbread outline. These lines will look like the strips of cloth that wrap around a mummy. The less perfect, the better — it gives that authentic “ancient” feel!

4. Give Your Mummy Some Eyes
Another step you can do before or after. Draw, or glue on some googly eyes. I did it first but it was hard to get the white out around the eyes so once the white-out is dry, use a black marker to draw two small oval eyes peeking out between the bandages. Or, if you have googly eyes, glue them on for an extra fun, silly look!

5. Enjoy

If you want to make your mummy into a decoration, You can tape it to a window, glue it to a greeting card, or make a whole family of mummies to hang up for Halloween!
Craft Tips
- Try using colored paper for a background that makes your mummy pop — black, orange, or even purple look great.
- If you don’t have white-out, masking tape, white yarn, white paint pens or chalk markers work just as well.
- Add a little glitter glue for a “glowing mummy” effect!
This mummy craft is quick, creative, and perfect for a classroom activity or a rainy afternoon. Kids will love watching their simple cookie cutter outline transform into a spooky little creature — all with the magic of white-out!
So grab your supplies and get wrapping — your mini mummies are ready to rise!
