Halloween season is the perfect time for a little spooky snacking! This Monster Mix is a fun, colorful, and totally customizable Halloween trail mix bar that kids will love to make. It’s a great treat for parties, school snacks, or a cozy movie night at home. The best part? You can throw it together in minutes — no baking required!

(I’ve updated this post with new printables! I still include both printable options just in case you like the old ones better!)
This is the perfect treat for any party because guests can pick their favorites and create their own unique trail mix!

You can also take the free printables and use them as treat bag tags perfect for any lunch box surprise!

What You’ll Need:
- Bowls: I used little salsa bowls because they look like cauldrons
- Printables (down below)
- Toothpick
- Little spoons
- Baggies
- Candy: I’ll go into greater detail down below
How to use these free printables
These printables are 100% free! But I would love for you to pin or share this post to help others find it!
Click on what printable you want below. The printables will automatically open in a new window.

1. Printing them out
Print out the tags. If you are looking for a great printer to use – I love my HP! I wrote up a whole post why The reasons I love the printer.
IF YOU DON’T HAVE A PRINTER: You can also upload the files to staples or office max and have them print them! Sometimes the local library has a printer for public use!
2. Cutting out the printables:
I love Fiskars! Nice sharp scissors or paper cutters will get you the best-looking edges! Almost 90% of the time use my Paper Trimmer to get nice straight cuts! It just looks so much more professional!

3. Attaching the printable:
Tape or hot glue a toothpick to the back of each sign to easily place in each treat bowl.

How to Set Up the Monster Mix Bar
- Choose a Table or Counter Space
Pick a spot where kids can move around easily. Cover the surface with a Halloween tablecloth for an extra spooky vibe. - Set Out the Ingredients
Use small bowls, jars, or cauldrons to hold each ingredient.
Label them with the free monster mix printables. - Provide Scoops and Cups
Give each child a small paper cup or bag to build their mix.
Add a few spoons or scoops to keep things tidy and easy to share. - Let the Monsters Create!
Invite kids to walk through the bar and scoop their favorite treats into their cup. Encourage them to make their very own monster mix — sweet, salty, or a little of both! - Enjoy and Share
Once everyone has their custom trail mix, it’s snack time! These mixes also make great party favors — just tie the bags with ribbon and add a Halloween tag.

You can print out the Monster Mix sign big and hang above all the treats.

Fun Twist
Instead of doing a trail mix bar, use each tag as a label and add it a baggie of treats! Great to hand out to kids or to make kids lunches extra festive during October!

💡 Why Families Love It
- No baking — just mix and go!
- Kid-approved — sweet, salty, and fun to make
- Perfect for parties — looks festive and tastes delicious
- Totally customizable — works for allergies, preferences, or themed colors
Old monster mix printable

This is what the old printables look like- still fun, but they are each designed different. The new ones have a little more cohesion. But you are free to use whatever version you like! The new ones do have more options of treats though!

(we might be slightly obsessed with Halloween-themed feces.)
(these are just fun size twix bars)
