I received paint from Sherwin-Williams as compensation with this post. All views and opinions are my own and no other compensation was provided.
My poor son. He was such a good sport when we moved. The girls were so sad to leave their rooms, friends, school, house. But he was such a trooper. I bribed the girls with fun room decorations. and he just was along for the ride.
and I finally came up with a game plan for his room (two years later)
and it all spins around…
a plaid wall!!!
I don’t know why I never think to take a before picture that is truly a before. I get so excited to get going that I always space it!
but it had the same beige taupey color as my whole house….it’s not a bad color. but I wanted to lighten up this basement room and make it more fun….
So I turned to SHERWIN-WILLIAMS
There are so many great blues to choose from…and I wanted to make sure I was getting the exact ones in my head. Not to light…not to dark, matches his bedspread…
So I grabbed paint samples in the shades I liked and created a mini version of my wall.
It helped SO MUCH! I loved the one on the right…but together I could tell it was a little too bright for what I was going for! So I ended up choosing Leisure blue and Naval.
After the white dried it was time for math…and tape. I measured the wall and used some division to make sure each square was even. I drew it out with a level. (seriously. Use a level. THE ENTIRE TIME. I started using it and then thought..I can just keep going straight across with the ruler.
Then added some painters tape. Since I drew on the wall with pencil…I wanted to cover it with paint so I made sure the tape went right by the side of the pencil marks. and then paint!!!!
It really wasn’t that long to do…just literally watching paint dry! The paint goes on amazing! But I wanted to make sure to add tape after the paint was dry so I wouldn’t ruin all my hard work!!!
I showed a sneak peak on my instagram (agirlandagluegun)
It turned out exactly how I wanted it. I almost wish I would have done the WHOLE wall…at the time I thought it might have been too busy…but now I think it would be totally fun!
you can see the painted tool chest here
Make sure to check out Sherwin-Williams. I love their Chip-it!
