How to create this gift idea for your favorite teacher
Cutting paper strips
You need a paper strip for each student. You can choose colored paper or white paper. I originally used cardstock but it was hard to get it to wrap around smoothly. So regular printer paper is recommended!
Just measure the thickness of the spool and cut out the strips so they could wrap around them. I used my Paper Trimmer to get nice straight cuts! It just looks so much more professional!
Write messages
Have each kid pick a paper strip and write a message! You can have them all write thank you, something they love about their teacher, or what they learned this year. If this is for a preschool or kindergarten class, you could also just have them write their names and draw a picture!
Assemble the strips
After all the strips have been written on, You will tape each one end to end to create one long strip! You can also use hot glue.
Printing out the ends of the spool
I created a printable to finish off the ends of this cute gift idea. You just need to print them out and glue them on!
If you are looking for a great printer to use – I love my HP! I wrote up a whole post why The reasons I love the printer. This post also shows how you can make sure you are getting the best prints by adjusting your settings!
IF YOU DON’T HAVE A PRINTER: You can also upload the files to Staples or Office Max and have them print them! Sometimes the local library has a printer for public use!
Assemble:
Once the top and bottom are on the spool, I just tape the first strip to the middle and start wrapping.
Try to keep it nice and tight! Tie it with a ribbon or bow to keep it from unraveling!
