Who needs a fun ministering Relief Society Luau Activity? This one is a perfect low-key event with Hawaiian pancakes and a fun craft!
We had such a fun activity the other day that I wanted to share! I didn’t plan it so I take no credit for all the cool ideas! It was Hawaiian Themed. One of our ladies had a yummy coconut syrup recipe and she uses it to make Hawaiian pancakes. Regular pancakes, coconut syrup, crushed pineapple, macadamia nuts, and whipped cream. So that’s what kicked off the whole Hawaiian theme!
Relief Society Luau Activity food:
As I said, we did pancakes. But we know that not everyone loves coconut. So we actually had a sign-up for all sorts of fun syrups and pancake toppings. Chocolate chips, fruit, maple syrup, strawberry syrup, etc. I have a really yummy Divine syrup that is so good! We just set it up as a buffet and everyone made their own concoctions!
We have found we really like having people sign up to bring things because our attendance is usually higher!
A few volunteers showed up early to make pancakes and kept them warm in the oven. (There is a gluten-free pancake mix!)
Dole whips with pineapple or snow cones would be another fun treat idea!
Luau Decorations:
The girl in charge found lots of great Luau decorations at Hobby Lobby! $2 for a big flower garland and some pop-up pineapple and coconuts. I have lots of flamingos from my obsessions so I brought some of those. Colorful plastic tablecloths and paper flowers and pineapples! Easy peasy! If you catch the Dollar Store at the beginning of summer, they usually put out luau-themed stuff as well!
Activity:
The real purpose of this activity was to do ministering interviews. So we pulled out ladies and interviewed them in a classroom of the church. They were able to eat and visit as we cranked through interviews.
Relief Society Craft:
The girl in charge also figured out a fun craft for the ladies to do! She grabbed all the stuff to make pressed flower bookmarks. She added that the ladies could make some cute bookmarks for the ladies they minister to.
supplies for bookmarks:
- Pressed flowers
- laminated sheets
- hole punch
- laminator
- scissors
- ribbon
- Tweezers (to grab flowers)
We laid out the flowers because they come all stacked up and they are so delicate!
The ladies grabbed a plate to put all their flowers and supplies on. We had them take them back to the table, laid out the flowers how they wanted them, and then came back to run them through the laminator! Punch a hole and add a ribbon!
They all turned out so cute! It was an easy and fast craft!
