this whole week is teacher appreciation week! (not on the blog..just in real life.)
(my kids get out in just a couple weeks EEK! #notready)
we like the nice and easy gifts…..
gifts that we can make.
(and when I say we, I mean my daughter…cause I’m teaching her how to sew so I can put her to WORK.)
(edited to add: I updated this printable with WE–head here to grab it!)
these are fun easy keychains. I’m pretty sure everyone around me owns one cause they are my quick gift I throw on a thank you note or happy birthday card.
(you can also buy this cute teacher one!)
Here’s some past ones i have made…..
these are the best keychains..they are big enough that you can find them in your purse or you can wear around your wrist and they are not in your way!! and they use up your scraps!
it’s basically just one fold bias tape…(3 inches by 12 inches) then i just iron in the sides. You can do this with one fabric…but i like using two prints for a pop of fun!
sew down both sides…..sew them on a keychain into a loop
then add some coordinating fabric around the base to keep them together (and cover up where you sewed them together. and sew it around (tucking corners in one side)
then just add to the printable! Print it here!
(you could just glue on a store bought keychain if you want to go that route!)
make sure to check out these fun teacher gift ideas..go here for these “sweet” teacher printables…

This is totally freaky. I have literally been making key chains today and was going to make them into teacher gifts for Xmas and was going to use the exact same phrase…. weird. I totally love that you have used different fabrics though. Totally going to try that! As always… You rock (all the way from NZ!)
Sara says
How do you attach the keychain to the postcard?
Kimbo says

I love this idea! What size did you print the card that you attached the key chain to?
Kimbo says
I could fit two on a sheet of cardstock paper!
Jennifer says
I am having a hard time printing the file to fit two printables on a page. Could you walk me through the steps?
Wende says
Mine is printing on a full 8.5×11 piece of paper. Is there a trick to get it to print smaller?
Kimbo says
My computer gives me options to print at different sizes. after I have saved it, I click on it in photos and it opens in a new screen and I have a print tab there. Hope this works!

I am a sales rep and these printables would make the PERFECT addition to some new keychains we got! I would just need to change the wording to:
You are the key to TEAM success! Have a GREAT year!

Such a terrific idea! Think I will do something like this for daughter’s school nurse – only maybe entitle it – key to my health – since she is the dispenser of asthma medication and epi-pens. 🙂 Thanks you for sharing such a cool idea. 🙂

clever! love it!

Sewing novice here… what is bias tape? Do you make it, or do you buy it? If you buy it, does it go inside of the chosen fabric? This is an awesome inexpensive idea for my kids’ multiple daycare and specials teachers. Thank you!
Sofia says
did you ever find out what this “bias tape” is?
Kimbo says
bias tape is fabric that goes around the edge of blankets or clothes. http://www.joann.com/search?q=bias%20tape The fabric tutorial above is making bias tape to achieve the keychain!

I am in LOVE with your printable. I have been eyeing it for a while. Is there any chance you have one that would be from a class (OUR success instead of my success)? I was hoping to add this to our class gifts for the teachers. Thanks!
