How to make Dollar Store Bells from Bowls
You won’t believe just how easy and cute these bells come together! You can totally customize them with different colors and embellishments to really make them your own! If you want these Bells to be actually be jingle bells, add in a bell (or two) before you assemble them!
Step 1: Glue bowls together
I like to use E6000- It adheres the plastic a little better than hot glue. It does have a 24 cure process though! I just run a line around the lip and stack one bowl on top of the other one. I put a can of food on top to add a little weight while it dried.
Step 2: Paint
Unless you find gray bowls, you need to paint the bells. I used a combination of gray and silver spray paint. Lots of light coats will help adhere the paint to the plastic bowls. They do have metal spray paint. So it just depends on what color of bells you are going for.
Step 3: Bell Detail
To make these bowls look like bells, they need the hole. Since I wanted to make these as easily as possible and didn’t want to actually saw into the bowl, I faked it! You could use paint, but I just cut out the shape with black vinyl and stuck them on!
There are 4 of these around the bottom bowl of the bell.
Step 4: Add in handle
There are lots of different ways to attach a top to the bell. You could use rope or piece of leather. I found these shower curtain rings at the Dollar Tree that worked perfectly. I just attached with E6000 and then some hot glue to hold it up right why the E 6000 cures.
Step 5: Add embellishments
I just added some greenery and ribbon to finish off the bells! This part is optional and totally customizable.
These bells are just the perfect DIY Christmas decorations for you mantel or front porch! I personally think they look good in a pair! If you make small smaller ones, you could make them into ornaments and use them on your Christmas trees or along a garland!
