I’m cheap. You should know this if you are a regular reader of agaagg! So I usually opt for whatever shelf or bookcase I can find at the thrift store. and usually they are gross. Always needing a coat of paint! I always use it as a fun way to add some jazz to my kid’s rooms! And today I have 4 fun different techniques to show you!
#1. Wrapping paper/Wallpaper
You saw in my craft room tour that I hoard wrapping paper. Anything pretty and I must buy! And I hate using it on presents (cause it just gets ripped off and thrown away!) so it’s perfect to add to the back of the bookshelf!
(my collection:)
Added this fun floral to my daughter’s bookshelf:I add it the sides of the bookcase using pod podge…and then just trim the edges!
I popped the shelf holders into the holes
Added the paper to the back and then attach it with nails!
You could even use fun maps!
This gold polka dot paper is so cute!
and this one
If your shelf is small…scrapbook paper might be a fun alternative!
or wallpaper!
Cute way to use LOTS of paper!Â
The easiest DIY! After you assemble the shelf…before you attach the back..give it a nice few coats of spray paint!
It adds a fun pop to any book shelf! (these are in our garage!)
You could even do chalkboard paint!
Love this bright colored one!Â
I also hand painted some fun cheetah print!
I mean check out this paint job!
Or use LOTS Of color!
Or you could use a stencil to get a variety of awesome patterns!
#3–vinyl.
Vinyl is super fun and TOTALLY removable. So If you are indecisive…this is a great alternative!
(I get all my vinyl from HERE)
This was actually contact paper!
cute decals makes this one look awesome!
fun floral designsI even used some to stripe the edges of a book shelf in my craft room!
I used Patterned vinyl for some barbie wallpaper
Last but not least:
#4 Fabric-
Fabric comes in so many colors, patterns, designs!!! Easy way to pull in color! Just hot glue to the backing!
I did fabric a long time ago (check it out here!)
Love this burlap one!Â
make sure to check out this awesome cut out one!
So many fun ways! What one is your favorite?
