Looking for a unique way to invite guests to your next birthday party, baby shower, classroom celebration, or summer event? These DIY balloon invitations with free printables are such a fun surprise! Instead of handing out a regular paper invitation, you place the invitation inside a balloon, attach it to a cute printable tag, and let guests pop the balloon to reveal the party details inside.
This creative party invitation idea is inexpensive, easy to make, and always gets kids excited for the event before the party even begins!

Daughter is turning 7! My Baby. ah! Where did the time go! I wanted to show you her fun party invitations and I’ve got some free printables for you at the end!
What to use these Balloon Invitations for
Balloon invitations are a memorable alternative to traditional invites. While we used them for a birthday party, the printable is generic enought that they would work for almost any type of celebration.
They’re perfect for:
- Carnival or circus themed events
- Birthday parties
- School parties
- Summer parties
- Pool parties
- Baby showers
- Gender reveals
- Graduation parties
- Kids’ craft parties
- Dance party invitation (like to ask someone to go to Prom!)
Supplies You’ll Need
Here’s everything you need to make your own balloon invitations:
- Balloons
- Printed invitations
- Free printable tags (below)
- Washi Tape
How to Make Balloon Invitations
Step 1: Print Your Invitations
Create your party invitation wording and print it on regular printer paper. Cut the invitations into small strips so they can fit inside the balloons.
Be sure to include:
- Party date
- Time
- Location
- RSVP information
- Any special instructions guests need to know

You can use Canva for free to design this.
 Step 2: Roll the Invitation
Roll each invitation tightly enough to slide inside the balloon opening.

This step works best with standard latex balloons.
You could also add confetti… (If you hate the person’s mother.) But you can use a funnel to help put more things inside the balloon
Step 3: Attach the Balloon to the Printable
Use tape or ribbon to attach the balloon to your free printable tag.
The tape keeps the balloon on the printable AND to keep the invitation and confetti inside!
These cute printable tags make the invitations look polished and party-ready.

My original plan was to put holes in the paper and tie a string through but then I decided washi tape would be more colorful and easier.

Step 5: Hand Them Out
Deliver the balloon invitations to friends, classmates, or family members and watch their excitement when they discover the invitation hidden inside!
This idea is especially fun for kids because it turns the invitation into an activity.
