This Moon sand – sometimes called Cloud Dough- is so super easy! and it only takes two ingredients. Bonus: Kids will LOVE playing with it!
This recipe is so easy- and is a perfect boredom buster for kiddos! Warning- It is like sand which means it makes a mess! I recommend playing with it outside or putting it on a cookie sheet to contain. The fun part about the moon sand is that while sandy and crumbly, it still sticks together. You can form it into shapes and you could even make a sandcastle!
Here is what you need to make DIY moon sand
- 1/2 Cup conditioner or lotion
- 2 cup corn starch
- liquid food coloring (optional)
Optional: you can grab some of the fun dough molds off of amazon to use with this!
How to make Moon sand
I poured the conditioner into a bowl. If you wanted to add color, add some drops and stir it in before adding the cornstarch. You can stir it to get it initially mixed, but it’s best to just dive in with your hands and get it all mixed up! One thing I noticed was that the moon sand smelled like coconut (our conditioner) So keep that in mind when choosing what kind to use. Another thing- I thought it made my hands softer from playing with it! BONUS!
You will want to store your moon sand in a baggie when not using it!
If you want to pin to save it for later here is a good image for you!
