So many ways to explore some extra creativity! These fun art challenges are perfect for kids and adults to stretch their imaginations!
I have a whole bunch of super cool fun art challenges that kids will have a blast with! It helps them use left brain/right brain!
Draw with both hands at the same time
Take a marker in both hands and draw the same picture with both hands at the same time. Extra twist- try to draw two different things at the same time! I couldn’t do it! I taped my paper down since I didn’t have a spare hand to keep it in place!
Draw with Multiple Markers
Rubberband a bunch of markers or colored pencils and doodle. Or try holding two- three at the same time and write a note! It almost has a 3-d Look to it! RANDOM: Do you guys remember those squiggle pens from the 90s! I loved them so much!
Draw Blind Folded
You can either go into a dark room or get blindfolded. It’s fun to do this one with a friend. Have a friend tell you what to draw- (example. draw a sun. Put sunglasses on the sun. Draw a bird by the sun. Add a cloud etc. That way the person has to keep moving around the paper. Here is my daughter’s fish:
If you have a few people participating…you can have them draw it on their heads instead of getting blindfolded. We have played this at a church activity and it was super fun!
Draw Upside down
Drawing a picture upside down is actually something we do in art class. It trains your brain to draw using shapes and lines versus things. It’s a fun exercise! Don’t turn it right side up until you are done! The reveal is the best part!
You can also draw upside like this. I believe this was a lesson on Michelanglo painting the Sistine chapel ceiling ! (can’t find source!)
Draw without lifting your pen
Drawing with one continuous line! It’s harder than you think! You can search youtube for lots of cool artists that make amazing pictures!
If you have little ones at home…you could have them draw one continuous line in wiggles and then have them color it in for a fun geometric design!
Draw with your feet!
Let me tell you….this is harder than you think! Slap a paintbrush or marker in between the toes and try it out! I would recommend a bigger piece of paper to do this with!
Drawing a picture with dots
This art technique is called stippling! A whole picture with dots. You could take a pencil and did the eraser in paint and make the dots. I did this in art school! It took….awhile!
Bonus…
Make a super long drawing utensil
Tape a marker or paint brush to a long dowel/ stick and see how easy it is create with it!
Hope you have fun with all these fun ways to stretch your creative minds!
