Yesterday on Instagram I gave a sneak peak of my living room. And had lots of questions about where I got crap and wall color and about our west manifesto! So I thought it was time to dust off the pictures I took forever ago and post about it! So let’s start with the West manifesto! You can see previously I had a chalkboard art up there…
but I knew I wanted a big vinyl something up there…and since WEST and MANIFEST kinda rhymes…we just went for it. (FYI. I don’t LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I blame the font. It wasn’t 100% what I wanted but couldn’t find the perfect fit!)
So originally I thought it would be super funny to have things the kids have said in the past on there. Like no picking noses in public and Beans are magic fruits etc…but A. everything my kids say seem to be slightly offensive. and B. I don’t have that good of a memory.
Instead I got on my great quotes pinterest board and found a bunch of fun sayings and mantras and kind of adjusted them to fit us. We say freaking awesome all the time…and losing is lame and To legit to quit, like a boss etc and our motto is WEST ARE THE BEST. I wrote them all down and Then got on my Silhouette cameo and designed it up. The font was hard. Everything was too busy–or to close together and I had to make sure it looked good small and big since each sentence was different! (font is orator)
Since it’s so big there are two ways to cut it. If you have sheets of vinyl you can just fit on as much as you can on the sized sheet and then cut. Then move up and cut the next section…Or you can split it up and cut it on a roll of vinyl! (P.s! You can get AMAZEBALLS vinyl HERE at Expressions Vinyl! My favorite place ever!
Then cut it out (this is just White removable vinyl!)
After you cut you peel off the vinyl that isn’t part of the design.and “weed” away all the little stuff like insides of o’s and d’ and b’s!
Lay over some transfer tape and give it a good rub.
Then when you are ready to apply you peel off the backing of the vinyl making sure all the stuff is stuck to the transfer tape.
Place where you want (I started at the bottom and worked my way up since I didn’t want to run into my board and batten)
Give it a good rub (an application tool works wonders)
Then peel off the transfer tape leaving the fun words down!
and if we get sick of it…or want to swap out phrases its super easy to do! (make sure to save your document in the Silhouette studio so you have size and everything!)
I’m working on my living room post so stay tuned to see the whole thing!! (just got to dig up the paint colors from my storage room!)
