I don’t know about you–but I love to have a wreath for every month/holiday. And today I wanted to show you my newest one (that I’m kind of obsessed with!) a DIY spring wreath–Easter bunny style! I keep driving by my house slowly to see it on my front door! AND–you can get all the supplies at Hobby Lobby!
Here is what you need to make this DIY spring wreath:
- Wood frame-mine is from the woodpile section and came prepainted (bonus!)
- Wire wreath frame
- Moss
- Wire
- hot glue gun
- Ribbon
- Twine
- floral paper
- Wood banner
- paint
- scissors
- command hook
- felt (optional)
- stickers (optional)
(this would be a fun craft day with the girls project! I only used 1/3 of the moss in the bag so if you had a few friends you could share a lot of the supplies (twine, wire, ribbon, felt, stickers, hot glue etc!)
I actually found this thick wire in the jewelry section. It’s pliable but still strong enough to hold it’s shape. AND it’s gold. (I love gold) I just shaped them into a bunny ear shape and made sure they looked size appropriate next to the wreath form. (My plan A including covering these in moss too…but I didn’t want to cover up the gold!)
Hobby Lobby has lots of different sizes of wreaths forms (and kinds!) This wire one worked perfect (Plus it’s such a great price)
I grabbed some moss and started hot gluing it on!
Warning: the moss gets messy. Nothing a good vacuum can’t fix…but just wanted to let you know! Once it was all hot glued around I wrapped twine around it to hold in all the little pieces a little better to make it look cleaner.
Let’s move on to ears. I grabbed all the pretty floral paper (but you can use fabric too) This top one actually have flecks of gold in it! So pretty!
I laid on my ear shape on the paper until I had it placed perfectly and then took a pencil and traced inside and cut out. Then I hot glued it on!
I hot glued the ears right on the top of the wreath (the moss covers up where it connects so you can’t see it)
I covered the back with white felt. This is optional but I wanted it to look clean and nice!
I originally was going to put this on my white letterboard I got from Hobby Lobby–but I knew the moss would stick to the felt of the letterboard (but it would have looked so cute on there!) So instead I grabbed this awesome board. It came just like this–and it’s perfection! I added a command hook (yup…you can buy command hooks at Hobby Lobby!) so I could hang up my Easter bunny. You could just hot glue it on–but I was thinking if you had a command hook you could swap out for each season. I totally want to make a Santa or snowman version like the Easter bunny head! (and maybe a flamingo for summer! A flag for 4th of July! So many cute options!)
Then I hot glued the ribbon onto the back of my board so I can hang it on my door!
I played around with what I wanted on top–(Remember how I said I originally wanted to do it on a letterboard? I had the letters all ready! (I like to show you the hem and haw process. I totally play around. It took me like 20 minutes to pick out what floral paper to use. )
I also couldn’t decide if I wanted to add a nose…(or tail depending on how you look at it.) hem and haw and hem and haw! The problem is….Hobby lobby has too many cute options!!!
Instead of the letterboard letters..I had this wood banner that I was going to use for another project…but it fit so perfect on this instead!
The wood tones didn’t pop enough for me against the white board so I painted it pink. (but if the board was pink instead of white–it would have been perfect! and now that I’m writing this…I want to make another one with a pink background!)
You can add any fun saying–Hobby Lobby has this fun thicker stickers in all sizes and colors (as well as wood letters) -I opted to hand paint it.
I just glued it on the edges at the top. (but you can swap and put the Easter bunny on top and the banner on the bottom!)
and hung up my new cute DIY spring wreath! (on another command hook!)
What I love about this is that if you guys decide to make one–yours is going to look totally different depending on what pattern you use on the ears and ribbon and what color you use on the sign! So many fun options!
It’s also cute enough to display on a table on mantel!
If you make one–I would LOVE to see it! And if you want to see my other cute spring wreath-go here!
