How to make a piñata bulletin board
The only real prep work I did was to create the border. I originally wanted to cover the whole board with fringed tissue paper to make it all look like a piñata. Then I quickly realized that would take FOREVER!
So instead, I opted for a border. I found this amazing idea here on instagram . I will give you a brief rundown but her video is great!

STEP 1: Start by laying a single sheets of each color on top of each other.

STEP 2: Cut the layers of tissue paper into thirds, keeping the sheets all lined up! (the graphic below just shows you the direction to cut it.)

STEP 3: fold each set of paper in half making a crease and then take a stapler and add some staples in the center.

STEP 4: Fold back in half and cut fringe the whole length of the side. Don’t cut through the fold.

This might not look like much, but it’s all about how you staple them up to the board! and I’ll show you that later in the post.
One package of each color was more than enough to cover my bulletin board.
I did all these before I got to the school so when I got there, I just stapled up the border!
The other prep work I did was spray paint some fans. Hobby Lobby only had white and pink and I wanted a yellow!

Set up the Pinata themed bulletin board
STEP 1:I added a pop of color right in the center. My mom came in at this part and was wondering what I was up to!

STEP 2: Put the Black poster paper covering the whole board. I stapled them all over to hold the weight of the piñatas.
STEP 3: Using the letter hack for lining up perfect letters from THIS POST, I put the words up so I could make sure my placement was good.
STEP 4: I ripped the black paper to reveal the colorful background I put up first. I then layered the smashing word inside. I did hot glue and stapled a few pieces of the ripped to make it look ripped open.

STEP 5: Add the border! Take the tissue paper that’s been stapled in the middle and staple the top. Then twist the paper and add a stapler 4-6 inches down. and twist the tissue paper AGAIN. Staple twist, staple twist! That’s what gets the border to be fluffy and full!

STEP 6: Add Pinatas! I hot-glued them directly to the paper background. They are empty, so they aren’t too heavy, but I did add staples to the paper to make sure it was reinforced.
I added a few paper fans and pom-poms to fill in the empty spaces.

STEP 7: Enjoy your bright and fun bulletin board!
You can leave this board up as long as you want, and when you are done with it, you can fill up the pinatas with candy or toys and have a party in your classroom with it!
