mint–make your own custom stamps

YOU GUYS! THE SILHOUETTE MINT! It is the coolest little device! Using the mint–you can make your own custom stamps and once you start–you can’t stop! We have made custom teacher stamps, address labels, this book belongs to book stamp, logo for my blog to put on packages, name stamps for my daughter to sign her artwork, Christmas stamps to put on our envelopes-you could even do a custom wedding one for thank you notes! So many fun options!

First–buying a mint- The mint comes with EVERYTHING you need to get started! A few stamps, 4 basic colors, and the mint and cords. I found an AMAZING deal on Amazon–Head here to get a mint!

Silhouette Mint Software

You have to download the software -it’s not associated at all with the silhouette studio–you don’t need an electronic cutter to use it at all!

The software is pretty basic-shapes, borders, patterns. You need to select your stamp size first so you can get the sizing right. You can also import your own designs or cut files (needs to be black and white to work best!)

When you send to your silhouette mint to cut–it automatically flips it for you. Click Start mint and load your stamp pad.

Making a custom stamp

Using the arrow–load it into the back and let it work it’s magic.

It almost like an embossing. It’s a raised image on the pad. You peel off the cardboard and plastic piece that is over it and apply it to the stamp pad (The video shows this in greater detail!)

Add the ink!

You can add multiple colors–Just be careful and go slow. You cover the raised part of the stamp with ink (completely cover) and let it soak in for a minute or two.
Then you start stamping. The first one makes you think….holy crap. I messed up. But just keep stamping to get off the excess ink!

The stamp kit comes with a paper sticker. Stamp that once it’s nice and clean and place it on the lid of the stamp so you can tell what is what!

Commonly Asked Questions about the Mint Stamps

How long will the ink last?

About 50  stamps. You can just add more ink after it starts getting splotchy. If you are making this for a teacher gift, you can just included a bottle of ink with the gift!

Can you use this with a regular stamp pad?

Nope. It doesn’t have a very big lift–so the outsides of the stamp picks up the ink and it just looks like a big square mess.

Do I have to know the silhouette software?

This is run on completely different software. It’s similar to the silhouette cameo software…but it has a lot less bells and whistles. You don’t need to be knowledgable at all–The mint software is pretty basic and really easy!

I’m team cricut. Can I still use this?

first. How dare you. lol. Just kidding! You can use this regardless of whether you have a cricut, silhouette, brother scan n cut….or maybe you HATE vinyl cutters and don’t own any- If you just want to make stamps..you just need to buy the mint!
