Not the most original..but it was so much fun to make…and i used all my kids favorites things so i know they are just going to love it…
before we begin..you are about to see an extra crapload of toys. and looking back over…my kids are getting no toys for christmas. it seems like a ton.
but everything has it’s own basket or bin or box or crate. everything is organized where it should be..so when i was ready for the polly pockets i could just grab the bag and go…so it’s not to crazy overwhelming to do.
and for the record…i buy a LOT of toys at the thrift store.
i took a white sheet and ACTUALLY ironed it…
and laid it on a big foam pad..(i wanted something i could move around if needs be….and sat in front of my door to get some good light….
and some of the toys tried to get escape…
and i tried to make squares when i was setting the toys out…
and some pictures are huge…like fill the whole mat…so i do some in twos…(and the whole)
and then i went to one of my favorite place paper coterie…and got it made into a book!!!
i used paper coterie to add words and titles and frames…
This book is for my kids ages 8-3. so i tried to make some easy…some hard…learning ones like trying to find animals that start with the letters of the alphabet…things like that.
and the end page i just made a collage of kid pictures!
i thought i would share my pictures in case anyone wants to make one..
(please feel free to use any image you want)
you could get them printed out at walmart or walgreens and
I used picnik to add words (this was before i had decided to use paper coterie)
disney movies:
and not disney
i hate polly pockets. do you know how small those shoes are?
this is my some of my hoarding daughters..and my sons…i think part of the game will be to find what is theirs…
these are the bad guys…
princess crap….
batman and his transportation….
i’m super excited to give my kids this book! i think it’s going to be a perfect church quiet book!!!!

A-mazing! I made my kid an i-spy book but it looks quite pathetic next to your adorable creation! Thanks so much for sharing your images–definitely going to be adding this to my to-do list…but my after-Christmas to-do list lest I lose my little baby mind trying to get one more thing done. 🙂
Sara says
My kids are OLD, but I still have a garage full of bins of their stuff. Maybe this would be the way to make a "memory" I spy book and then get rid of the stuff!
aimee says
Love this! I made one a year or so ago for my nephew but just threw a bunch of toys in the picture! Separating them into themes is so cute and such a great idea! I might have to do some new ones 😉

That is super Awesome. I never thought about making an I spy book out of their own toys. However I agree with everyone else and yours looks way better than anything I could do. Thanks!

Do you know how obsessed with I Spy we are in this house?? Was that a sentence? This is awesomesauce.
Shelby says
I love it! This is an original twist on a classic kid favorite! Not only is it a fun unique gift for the kids to enjoy now, but it's also a scrapbook of the toys that shape their lives. In ten years they will look back with fond memories and laugh at how toys have changed. (Your photos spurred a memory and I'm laughing right now remembering my old-school version of My Little Pony with the strawberry scented tail)

Is there anyway you would share your higher resolution photos? I would like to use your photos, as they are gorgeous, but when I downloaded them from your site they are low resolution for a photo book…
Just thought I would ask,
Thanks for the awesome ideas!

I have uploaded them to flickr…so hopefully that helps you ladies! http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimboscrafts/

Thank you for this inspiration. I found this as I’m putting together a stock pile of interesting items to use in our children’s bags given out at church.
But, I’m also a long distance grandma and LOVED the page with all the faces…a wonderful way to engage my grand children with the family…maybe even funny Nana and Papa faces.
It’s brilliant…thanks for sharing!
