I am horrible about cleaning my paint brushes…..I am usually doing two or three projects and I forget (or just don’t want to take the time) to clean out my paintbrushes. Then I am stuck with the hard paint bristles– completely crusted in paint. but I have a trick up my sleeve……
stick your cruddy paintbrushes in Rubbing alcohol. Let them soak for at least an hour. ( I always recycle my kids old plastic cups they get at restaurants ie applebees or my husband’s gas station cups….)
Take your fingernail and pinch the bristles and slide up from bottom to top
and you will see all the paint come up.
I always do this…then stick back in the alcohol for another hour and repeat. then I rinse them all out and they are as GOOD AS NEW!!!
serious! It has saved me oodles of paintbrushes!!!!!!
(p.s. I have left them in overnight and the paint brushes were just fine!!!)

Thats a good idea!! im a big "oh woops I forgot to wash that" person. haha. You can even get one of those "hair dresser comb cleaner tubes" (I don't know what they are called) and put them all in there with rubbing alcohol. That way they don't tip over and it looks a little nicer if you want to leave them out for a while to clean 🙂

After cleaning I always rub them with a little baby oil to keep them soft!

Wow! What a great tip! My kids are constantly leaving out the paint brushes to ruin, in spite of reminders, and I usually have to throw them away. As a mom of 4, that's a lot of brushes! As a result, I have a hard time finding one when I need it. Problem solved! Thanx so much!! :o)

Whoa! I hope that works as well for me. Great share if it does! Happy 4th.

Do you think this would work for brushes used in modpodge. It always dries and ruins my brushes, even though I wash then the glue just never seems to come out and I end up tossing them. I only use the cheap ones but still if I can avoid it it would be great.
