A super adorable Diy Graduation gift idea! (Because we all know that what the graduate really wants is MONEY!)
A totally cute custom box that you can put a gift card or money into for your graduate! Bonus because it’s so stinking easy! The goal is to make the top look just like a graduation hat!
What you need to create a graduation gift box:
- Box
- paint
- embroidery floss
- brad
- shrink dink paper
- vinyl (optional)
I found these three boxes in one set! The first one is pretty small- fits money and that’s all. The bottom one fits candy and money! The technique works for any size!
How to make a gift box
Give those boxes a quick paint job. I chose black but you can customize it to your graduate high school colors! You can also customize the tassel colors as well. I just wrapped the embroidery floss around a small bookmark and snipped it off and made my own little tassel!
I have a whole graduation cut file bundle here– So I used some to add a fun little vinyl saying. That gold chrome from Expressions vinyl is so good!
Popped a hole in the middle of the lid and pushed the brad down to hold the tassel in place.
I then got a FANTASTIC IDEA! Shrink a dink the date! Sketch it out the gold sharpies. Cut around (and punch a hole so you can string it on the tassels!)
and melt!
Used a jump ring to attach!
Fill up the box with whatever little treat or money you want!
Seriously the cutest and easiest graduation gift idea!
If you need an image to pin for later…here you go!
