I recently got my sewing machine fixed….and I whipped up 5 sewing projects! Feels so good to sew again! The first thing on the docket was sewing something up using this amazing fabric from Simple Simon and Co’s new line!
Aren’t they all pretty! Those colors! And I love Riley Blake knits–they are perfection!
I was so tempted to make myself ANOTHER skirt…because I wanted to keep this fabric for me…but then I decided to branch out–so instead I whipped up a gathered front shirt!Â
The actual shirt is the camden Raglan pattern! It’s so cute –You can grab this pattern here.Â
I own two patterns and they are both these raglans from hey june! I love them!
I got the pattern immediately and printed it out and assembled and cut all my pattern pieces. This pattern comes with a hood or a kangaroo pocket and you can lengthen or shorten the sleeves however you want!
We just use the basic shirt front and back and sleeves. Then added this awesome nylon chiffon in white to the front!
Ran a big stitch through the top of the chiffon and gathered it up by pulling the string from the stitch.
Then I pinned it to the top. I tried to keep it all straight so it would hang pretty.and I didn’t gather where the sleeves would be. Just pinned it straight.Â
I ran a stitch along the sleeves and neckline and then secured it along the sides of the shirt so the chiffon would stay in place when I added the sleeves and back to the shirt!Â
Sew them all up and you have a cute shirt that makes her feel all fancy (her words–not mine)
I actually hemmed the bottom of the knit..but just trimmed the nylon chiffon to hang (it doesn’t ravel!)
I do want to mention…she requested extra long sleeves. She loves pulling them over her hands. (and one of the benefits of sewing up your own clothes–you get to customize it however you want!)Â
