If you are looking for a totally fun art project- grab some chalk and create some chalk art!

My daughter came home from school with a cute little project! I love when she gets all excited and wants to show me how she made it! And this project was just so cute that I had to share!

Supplies to make chalk art

Here is what you need to create this fun chalk art
- Black paper
- chalk
- Something to trace around
I tried two different kinds of chalk. Artist pastel chalk and regular sidewalk chalk! Both work great! I love the color options with the pastels but the sidewalk chalk is the cheaper option!

How to make your own chalk art
Step 1:
Start by cutting out something to trace around. I used my silhouette cameo since it makes quick work of it. but you could take scissors and print out something to cut around!

Step 2
Lay out the silhouettes and take your chalk and outline it on the paper. You will need to hold down the picture to keep it from sliding around. If your kiddos are little, you can add a little tape or put a rock on top to keep it from shifting.

Step 3
Smudge! Take your finger, a paper towel, or a dry paintbrush and smudge the chalk out. You want to push outward so you don’t get chalk underneath the picture.

Step 4
Take off your silhouette paper and reveal your cool new image! You can keep smudging or add more details. You will have some chalk dust so you can take your picture out and blow off the excess!

I wanted to show you the sidewalk chalk version! I made the moon and stars with it. It looks about the same!

Other Chalk Art variations:
We made Fall/Halloween themed ones but you can adapt this for all holidays! Try an apple for back to school. Eggs for easter. A clover for St. Patrick’s day. You can even cut out letters to your name!
We used this same technique to make hearts for Valentine’s day!

A pretty easy and cute art idea!
