The kids and I are such HUGE fans of Disney. When a new movie comes out on DVD, we always buy it as soon as possible and have a movie night! We couldn’t wait to snuggle up with blankets and popcorn to watch the New Disney’s The BFG DVD! And it did not disappoint! So cute from start to finish! We dragged out movie night into a craft day to keep all the Big Friendly Giant Fun going! DREAM JARS!

I actually have two fun ways to make dream jars! (But if you are looking for more dream inspired crafts, such as a holiday village resembling Sophie’s hometown of London, a Dream Journal, a What Kind of Dreamer are You? Quiz, and videos including Tiny Tin Doll Beds and Giant and Mini Snowflakes check out the Dream! Make! Create! site!
First one: Physical jars! These fun jars are colorful and bright (just like in the movie!)
Here is what you will need:
- jars in all sizes
- tissue paper
- mod podge
- scissors
- paint brush
- glow sticks
I always keep any jars–spaghetti sauce, jams, jellies. I loved the BFGs variety of different size and shaped jars so the more unique the better! You could even do a BIG pickle jar for a BFG size dream jar!
Cut the tissue paper into squares (we had this tissue paper with sparkles and we loved the added glimmer!)
We added mod podge in about 3 inch sections and added pieces of tissue paper until the whole jar is covered.
After the jar dries you pop in a glow stick to make them glow!
I actually used to have a dream journal where I would write down my dreams as soon as I woke up. It’s a pretty fun thing to read! You could put this colorful jar by your bed and use it as night light and in the morning you can write your dream on a piece of paper and put it inside the jar!
In the movie, the bad dreams are red. So if your kids are prone to nightmares you could make one of these in red to “capture” the bad dream and then hide it away! My kids would have loved that when they were little!
The second craft is dream jars printables! I drew up 4 fun jars so you could write or draw your dreams on it! This would be really fun if you are have a big group! Watch the movie and have each kid draw and color their own jar to fill up the chalkboard with!
