A fun April Fool’s Dinner that kids will love! Grab the free printable here and let the festivities begin!
First: I feel like I should get 1,000,000 bonus points for being on the ball and posting something BEFORE the actual holiday.
It’s an April fools miracle!!!!
I remember my sister doing this for a date dance…and as a little kid (cause my sister was so much OLDER than me (ha! ) I thought it was sooooo funny! So I thought it would be so hilarious to do it with my kids…for an April fools dinner!
here’s the gist….
You give your kids the menu—with everything you are having for dinner –down to the utensils. They get to pick a certain number of items each round. But the menu is in code! They have to try to get the right things for each course!
So let’s say for the first course- they order Black and White, chip off the old block, Bid Dipper, and Another name for Brain. You would get salt and pepper, ice cubes, a spoon and noodles!
Round 2: you order Mushed Tomatoes, Stale bread, brown liquid, and Poseidon spear.
You just got Spaghetti Sauce, croutons, hot fudge sauce and a fork.
The menu is
- first course: supplies
- second course: salad
- third course: Spaghetti and bread
- fourth course: Ice cream
Just print it out and make it look like a menu! You will need one for each kid unless you want them to order as a group!
Now the rules are- once it’s served to you, you get to keep it! So you can have your spaghetti in course two when the sauce comes!
You have to put in your order all at once. If each kid is ordering different things- they can try to figure out what each thing is- so if you have them order at the beginning- they can’t change their order!
I also thought it would be fun to do a hamburger version..
Any guesses on what these are? Don’t worry- I included a cheat sheet!
I also included a blank version- So you can create your own!
First: pick out what you are having for dinner—it’s a lot easier to have a menu and THEN come up with names.
Then think of funny nicknames. Inside jokes…or other things it could be called– I wanted some easy…some a little harder. I figure they will get a few. But I wanted the majority to be a crazy surprise!…
Here is the printable- I would love for you to share this post so other’s can find it! I always get asked about printers- THIS is the one I use and love!
Way to go YOU! This looks like fun too! (Do I get points for a lame rhyme?)

Super cute idea. Some day, when I have children, I will do this. <3
Super cute! We do this, too, but instead of a menu we just have every single thing we will need out on the counter and a list of everything cut into strips in individual bowls. Each round everyone reaches into their bowl and grabs 2 or 3 strips. We went super messy and did spachetti, salad, juice, and ice cream. So, some rounds you might get juice, but no cup! We just poured a bit onto the table and we had to slurp it up! And you might get a scoop of ice cream, ranch dressing and a napkin. Have to just eat your ice cream with your fingers! They were allowed to save the ranch until they finally got their salad though – LOL! 🙂 SO much fun!!
very cute! I think my kids might be a bit young for this now… would probably involve lots of screaming that they didn’t get what they wanted or couldn’t eat noodles with a spoon :o) I can just imagine…. but… I would love to do this when they are older… thanks for all the great food sables… oh and BUN was NOT what came to mind as another name for BUTT :o)
Hahaha, is it weird that even though I know it’s real food the idea of stinky fart makes me feel sick??? My kids would LOVE this!
