I love making things with paper. It’s crazy how a flat piece of paper can be transformed into boxes, flowers, cards, stars, etc!
I personally love making paper flowers – They can just be added onto everything!
Supplies you need to cut paper with your silhouette cameo
Paper:
I love paper studio paper packs from Hobby Lobby! They have very good sales and loads of colors! I also really like any pretty patterned vinyl that is double sided!
Silhouette Cameo
If you need a silhouette these are currently my favorite bundles:
- White one: https://amzn.to/3dfe2cr
- black one: https://amzn.to/3bXP42e
- Pink one: https://amzn.to/2P5moLN
Adhesive
Most projects require glue to stick them together. I use my hot glue gun the majority of the time. but if you want to avoid the glue gun hairs and strings- I really like this elmer’s adhesive and glue dots
Spatulas
Spatulas make it easy to clean up your mats with the cardstock negative space. Just push it along the mat to grab the debris.

I do have a whole video on cutting out lots of different kinds of paper with my silhouette!
How to cut out paper with your silhouette cameo
First Open up your silhouette studio and select your item you want to cut. The video above goes over things you can cut out with your silhouette came and things that would be difficult to cut out! There are lots of awesome paper crafts in the silhouette Design store. Type in 3-D crafts and try not to add them all to your cart.
This cut file is the lid to the cake box (all the details for that is here!)
If you notice the dark solid line and the dashed lines. that is what the silhouette will cut. The dashes is where you fold! So easy!
Make sure it’s sized appropriately -if it comes in pieces make sure to size it all together so it matches! You don’t want to have a bottom of a box one size- and the lid another size!
Send to silhouette and cut! I follow the guides that pops up when selected cardstock plain. Do a test cut to make sure it’s cutting correctly!
This is what it should look like. If it has drags or the paper is ripping you will need to adjust your cut settings. Troubleshooting: Slow it down. or Put in a newer blade.
If your cut settings are correct- the paper just peels off! Make sure you aren’t using a new mat since the stickiness may cause the paper to tear!
In comes the spatula tool to remove the excess.
Then glue pieces together.
See what I mean about taking a flat piece of paper and making the CUTEST STUFF!
