Check out this super cute candy flower bouquet. It’s perfect for mother’s Day or Valentine’s day! And they involve CHOCOLATE!
We actually made these candy flowers for my daughter’s teacher for Valentine’s Day! But they are also perfect for Mother’s Day or birthday or just because…chocolate is the universal gift!
They are pretty easy to assemble and kids can totally help! They can cut out the petals and help assemble them to make a custom flower arrangement for mom!
I did create a video because sometimes it’s easy to see in action- but the full instructions are down below! !
Supplies to make a candy bouquet
- Glue
- Crepe paper streamers
- Round candy (we used Lindt truffles)
- Paper Straws
- Scissors
You can use whatever candy you want….but you will want something round and pretty colored to coordinate with your flowers! (and you can use whatever color crepe paper streamer)
How to make a candy flower bouquet
Make the stem and center.
First wrap a strip of crepe paper 5 inches long around the candy, folding the edges of the candy down. Glue to hold it in place.
This creates an opening at the bottom. I add glue to the paper straw and stick it in the bottom and pinch it close. Here is what it looks like at this point.
Adding in the petals
Fold over the crepe paper a few times. This is about 4 inches long segments.
Cut out a petal shape. These petals are 3 to 4 inches long.
Each flower can have as little as 5 petals or as many as 25 petals if you want a big bloom! If you are doing a lot of petals you will want a few different sizes to create some dimension.
Then just hot glue at the bottom and wrap it around the bud. Petal by petal.
I just alternate the placement of petals until I like look of the flower!
Assemble the Bouquet
We placed the leftover candy into a jar and used it as a vase to hold the flowers! Added a cute ribbon. You can also add a cute tag if you are giving it as a teacher appreciation gift.
