Valentine Day’s boxes for School with Plaid crafts!

I have been diying my own valentine boxes since I was a kid! and my favorite two things to use when making them is cardboard boxes and Apple Barrel Paints–so let’s get crafty this Valentine’s Day with Plaid Crafts!

I love to use boxes…cause i have tons (perks of being a blogger! lots of fun mail!) You just need to peel off all the tape and stickers.

I use hot glue to seal it back up….so you don’t have to try to paint over the glossy tape!

Next: make sure to put in a notch for the valentines to go (I like to make them big enough that my hand can fit in!

If you are using really light colors, I like to give my box a coat of white to begin with–It really makes the colors POP (ironically…I use the same technique when painting my nails! Paint them white first and then put the light color on…it really intensifies the color!)

I didn’t do it for the jail…And the silver still looks GREAT! but I did do it on the Minecraft box!

The jail box takes a  little muscle.  Box cutters will be your best friend! Just cut some rectangles out!

Then grab your paint!start with the inside–painted the back wall and ground with red….then the bars got a coat of pure silver!Then I had to add a hand painted heart criminal to sit behind the bars!

I used pipe cleaners so I could tie him to the bars.

I actually used the rectangles that I had cut out to line the bottom and the top for a more finished look! And added a sign!

the Minecraft box requires no cutting (other than the top to slip the valentines in!)

I just used a ruler to mark out a grid! 

Then took all different shades of green and started painting! I mixed and added white to some and yellow to some and brown to some to get all different shades! (the red dots is where the face was going!)

This kid is so excited! He’s going to keep it for a room decoration (and will probably cut out the bottom and use it for a mask on Halloween!)

I also painted a clash of clans head on a box….(this was just the box that I was putting his present in for his birthday) But you easily could cut out his mouth to slip the valentines in!!!
