(I’ve been cleaning up my drafts box…..and I found a trove of posts that I pretty much have forgotten about! and so you get to see them this week while I play with my kids on their last week of summer!
I recently came into an old football helmet (random..but awesome)
turned it into this…
an awesome dallas cowboy helmet! (yes…we are Dallas Fans…and yes, we have heard all the jokes.)
at first i thought i would paint—but that seemed like too much work–so i opted for vinyl..three layers to make it even easier on me!
start by googling your image….
After you trace (this one I just did outer edge) i right clicked and duplicated the image… then resized them to how big I wanted….
After you get it to the size you want…(you right click and ungroup if needed)
you pull them off to the sides. DO NOT RESIZE AFTER THIS POINT!!!! BE CAREFUL TO LEAVE THEM AS IS!!!)
first cut is white…so pulled off the two blues..
okay…you can leave the smaller star inside and then it would cut just the outline instead of the whole star…but to put it back together would require a bit more finesse…so i just leave it big cause i’m not a precise person!
the strip down the middle is also vinyl..
if you think this only works cause it’s a basic shape..you are wrong. you can do this with most images…
(just make sure to click trace–not outer edge…. then size it to what size you need (you won’t want to resize after you pull the images apart) and then right click and release compound path…(ungroups them)
that little line on the black will be pulled off the the side and cut it out too. then when you have all the pieces you layer it black first..then white…and yellow and then put that little black piece back on top of the white
(as with anything vinyl…it’s hard to get a nice clean attachment on a round surface..just go slow!!!!
