I totally wish these blankets were around and popular when I was popping out babies. I love them so much! They are light and soft and perfect for wrapping those babies into little burritos without overheating them! But guess what? Some of these gauzy swaddle blankets cost an arm and a leg. It seriously astounds me. So let’s DIY some cheap ones!
I bought this fabric (a yard in a half  makes a big nice blanket) Lightweight with a little stretch cotton gauze available at JoAnn’s -7.99 a yard and you can use a coupon with it! 
but realistically you could buy plain finished white ones HERE and just fancy them up! Here’s all the fun ways I bedazzled them:
first up…
I decided to dye this one with a little rit dye! (comes in lots of colors!) I did ombre but you could do solid color!)
Dipping it halfway in the dye and every few minutes bringing it up out of the dye.
After I washed and dried it I just hemmed the edges.
and then I added some vinyl hearts (gold glitter vinyl from Expressions Vinyl)Â (you could personalize them vinyl too!)
Just ironed on!

Added some trim…hemmed and hawed and them went with an even smaller yellow trim (the trim pictured is from ribbon retreat!)

It’s so cute! I love it. But I’m pretty sure you can add mini pom pom trim on a shovel and it would be the the most adorable shovel you ever did see! 
and last:
Create your own pattern! Stars, triangles, hearts, polka dots! so many options! and you can buy this fabric paint in lots of different colors

created a stamp with some foam –stuck it on a stamp blank (you could hot glue it onto wood!)
The gauzy fabric doesn’t fray to much…so you could probably just run a zig zag stitch or a serge along the edge…but you could add binding, trims, or just a regular hem! Â 
Fold up and give to your pregnant friends. or wrap around a baby if you are lucky enough to have one (man, I am so baby hungry!!!)Â
