If you need even more fun Bulletin Board ideas- I have 3 new ideas that are perfect to leave up at your school all year long!

Last year, I decided to help my mom decorate her school’s bulletins board. I create 4 fun bulletin boards and ended up having so much fun that now I want to do them EVERY YEAR! So I went back to the school this summer and down came the cute ones from last year and up went 3 new ideas! So here are the 3 new bulletin boards for you to recreate for your classrooms!
I’m going to break down each bulletin board seperately- but I got all my cute supplies from Hobby Lobby! They have so many fun things to use plus all the cute patterns and colors! I’m already planning on what I’m going to do next year because I have more ideas than bulletin boards!

I do link the supplies I use- some of them say out of stock but my store had plenty in stock so they might just be out of stock online!
Bee Bulletin Board

Supplies to make BEE bulletin Board
- yellow cardstock paper ( I grabbed a few shades of yellow)
- Black and white bulletin backdrop
- Borders in black and white composition, and yellow polka dot
- Bees (Hobby lobby has a bee party section with some darling bees as well as a set of bee clipart in the bulletin board section)
- BEE printables HERE
- Black and white awning I used two. (There is a checkered version too that I love!)

I wasn’t sure what I wanted for the backdrop of the bees. I ended up using the black and white spotted bulletin board paper from Hobby Lobby, but found a gingham tablecloth and some black and white wrapping paper that would work for an alternative backdrop (both from Hobby Lobby.) Fabric would have worked great too!
As I was laying out all the supplies- I realized I needed (wanted) some bigger bees to really pop off the board! This part is totally optional because they had lots of cute butterfly cutouts but if you want to recreate them- here is what I grabbed from Hobby Lobby.
Supplies to make big Bees
- foam ball
- foam egg shape
- wire
- yellow and black paint
- iridescent gift wrap roll

How to make the BEE themed bulletin board
Paint the styrofoam body yellow and after it dries, add black stripes. Paint the round head black. You can use a thick wire to connect the head to the body poked them in place and added some glue.

I created a wing shape with the wire and then just hot glued it onto the clear wrapping paper. I snipped around the wire leaving a little edge of the iridescent paper.

Then I rolled it around the wire with more hot glue. Attach to the back of the bee with hot glue. Here is what it looked like finishes.

I created a bunch of printables. (They are linked at the top) You can print out whatever ones fit your classroom. I also have some blank ones so you can create a honeycomb on your board with no words or your student’s name etc.

I loaded up my printer will different shades of yellow cardstock and construction paper and just printed them out and then cut out the honeycomb shape.

Assemble the Bee Bulletin Board
I started with the black and white spotted backdrop (It’s actually the same one I used last year for the plant board!) Then I layered the borders.
I just grabbed a honeycomb and stapled it up and then added the rest of them by following the honeycomb pattern.

I added a piece of cardstock to the bottom of the bees so I could easily staple or glue them up to the board. My mom had the great idea to have one hang up from the ceiling like it was flying!

I created some flowers last minute- they are just made from layering paper plates. And I stapled up a few different-sized bees around the board to finish it off!

The awning was super easy to set up-it just folds together and then I used push pins to attach it to the track that runs the top of the bulletin board! I also have the pirntable for “Let’s have a BEE-utiful Year” with the honeycomb printables.

Friendship Era Bulletin Board
I love the theme of this board! This one is outside my mom’s room and doesn’t get changed out- so I wanted a nice message that can be left up all school year!

Supplies to make Friendship bulletin board
- purple checkered bulletin paper
- Disco ball bulletin border (the other side is smiley faces!)
- Checkered bulletin border (the other side is the black/white composition notebook)
- silver poster board
- holographic bulletin border
- Disco ball mini cutouts
- Easy Letters in colorful varsity font
- Ribbon Garland

How to make the friendship bulletin board
This one required the least amount of prep! I just had to create the giant disco ball! You can create your own compass with a string on a pencil to create a large circle on the back of the silver posterboard.

I knew the bulletin board I was putting this up on was small- so I took some of the holographic border and cut up a few strips to create the disco ball mirrors since I would have enough. You can just hot glue them directly to the posterboard.

The only other prep work I did was pop out the letters!

These Varsity letters have lots of colors so I had to lay them out to decide the best color combination! I ended up switching up the P in friendship since it was purple and hard to see on the purple backdrop!

Assemble the Friendship Bulletin board
I really loved the ombre background from our last board. The disco ball would have looked so good on it! But I really wanted to use the new purple checkerboard. So down it came and up it went!
Hindsight, the disco ball and letters needed a solid color to pop so I think I should have left the colorful ombre one up! It’s still darling but doesn’t stand out as much as it could have!

You can see in the picture below- We couldn’t decide what border to use! One side is disco balls- the other side is smiley faces! They are both so cute! I orginally planned on using the disco balls since it matched the theme- but the smiley faces popped the most so they won! I love that we can reuse these other side for a totally different board next year! (and if you notice- the checkered border we used on this board, is the same border we used on the bee board! It’s double sided! Checkered on one side and compostion black and white on the other!

When doing letters- I always start in the middle and then work my outward so I can make sure it’s even. (I have a great hack for you on the next bulletin board to get the letters lined up perfectly!)

This bulletin board is quite small. If it was larger, you could add in the friendship bracelets from last board to the side and incorporate both boards together!

You have to make sure to pop over and watch my instagram reel because it’s hard to capture the twinkle of the disco ball in photos!
Hobby Lobby haslights you could attach behind your poster board to make things glow. If you wanted to, you could pop holes in the disco ball and put real twinkle lights behind it!

Smart Cookie Bulletin Board
And last but not least- The School is full of SMART COOKIES! This bulletin board is located in the cafeteria, so I thought a nice food-themed board with be perfect!

Supplies to make Smart Cookie Bulletin Board
- blue bulletin board paper
- Checkered border
- wiggly eyes
- Tan and brown craft foam (I got two cookies out of 12 by 24 sheet!)
- Black letters
If you want to make giant cookies
- insulation foam (I just noticed that Hobby Lobby has this craft foam!)
- wood beads and discs
- paint
- brown wrapping paper

Cookie prep
The cookies can be made a variety of ways. You can use brown construction paper, Brown craft foam, or styrofoam discs. Or you could use the expanding foam. I actually made two different versions so I could layer them (you will see below).
The expanding foam definitely is the most time-consuming but I do love how it turned it! I laid out a large roll of brown kraft paper and just sprayed the foam in a circle and filled it in.
The paper underneath serves a great purpose. I didn’t think the hot glue would hold up directly on the foam. Instead, the foam sticks to the paper and then I could hot glue the paper directly to the board.
I added two googly eyes and some wood beads to mimic Chocolate chips while it was still dry! Then let your cookies dry! They will expand a little as they dry. I did a few full circles and then some cookies that looked like a bite was taken out of it. I had a few little foams drips I let dry for “crumbs”.

After they are dry, I added paint. I wanted the edges to look a little more brown than the middle. Then used a dark brown to color in the chocolate chip. I started painting the cookies a light brown– and it was to dark. I really wanted them to look like cookies and not a brown blob of ‘pudding’. So start with a very light brown- almost a tan and then add darker colors as you go.
After it all dried, I literally just ripped the backing off.

My foam cookies are so easy to make- so if you want to just make them this way- EASY PEASY! Just cut out some circles that aren’t perfect and have a few squiggles. Then cut out some small brown chocolate chip shapes and hot glue them right on!

Since I had decorated this specific bulletin board last year, I knew it was pretty large. I was worried that the cookies wouldn’t be enough. And when you think of cookies- you definitely think of milk! So I started making a giant milk carton out of a box to go with it! I wrapped an empty gift wrapping roll with red tape for a straw.

I didn’t get a picture of the milk carton since it was an afterthought. But I actually used white cake boards from Hobby Lobby. They came in a pack of 5, they were the perfect size, and they were already white so I didn’t have to paint them. I just taped them together to create the shape I wanted and cut out a hole to slip the straw in. I hot glued it in place since this is a school with children and I didn’t want anyone to be able to slide the straw out.

Assemble the Smart Cookie Bulletin Board
The base of the cookie bulletin board is a pretty blueish/green color with a checkerboard border that matches the cookies perfectly! Normally we only staple the paper around the edges, but I knew we were gluing the cookies onto the board. The cookies aren’t heavy, but I didn’t want them to pull the paper down so I added staples every 8-12 inches to secure it all.

(You can see the plants on the floor that we just took down! This was our “grow” bulletin board from last year!)
The best bulletin board hack:
When doing letters, it can be hard to keep them all straight or put them right where you want. So here is the tip! Lay out the letters on the ground how you want them.
Add a piece of painter’s tape or washi tape across them to keep them all spaced and lined up straight. Then add them to your board. You can take them down and rearrange them until you like the layout. Add staples to the top and bottom and then peel off the tape! Such a time saver!

I started by adding my flat cookies made from foam all around the board. A simple staple holds them in place.

The cookies are just hot glued up on the board. You could also grab some heavy-duty double-sided adhesive as well. Or use both to really secure them!

The milk carton is quite large so I wanted to reinforce it. I hot glued the back and then left the bottom open so I could reach up inside and add some staples.

I did add the cute mouse from “If you give a mouse a cookie” book. It fit perfectly with this cookie-themed bulletin board!

And those are my 3 boards this year! I have a favorite- and I would love to know which one is your favorite!?
Bulletin board tips and tricks
- If you use staples and no glue, you can reuse the backdrop over and over again. The glue will make it so you have to tear or rip it down!
- You can use a colored Sharpie to cover over the staples if you don’t want them to be noticeable.
- Thick, bold fonds are going to be the easiest to read on a bulletin board.
- You can laminate your letters to make them hold up over time.
- Clean up any stray staples with a magnet.
