This graduation gift idea is such a fun one! A unique way to give money, gifts or both! Check out the whole how to!
First things first- This idea is so darn fun- you can totally use it to drop off a fun neighbor gift, or use it as a cool way to kick of summer (fill with sunglasses, bubbles, popsicle molds, sidewalk chalk etc!) OR a cool way to kick off the school year (fill with all those school supplies!) So think outside the box!
But- my daughter is graduating this year- and that means ALL HER FRIENDS are graduating too! And I need ALL the gift ideas! And what is fun about this pop bottle gift is that you can totally customize it in the school colors!
Here is what you need to make this cute Graduation gift idea
- Pop bottle -cleaned out
- tissue paper, crepe paper or confetti
- money
- noise makers, poppers, etc
- candy (optional
- scissors
- packing tape
- scrapbook paper in school colors
- embroidery floss (optional!)
How to make pop bottle graduation gift
Step 1: Bottle prep
Take off the label and cut the bottle in half. A sharp knife or box cutter can get you started but scissors can work as well.
Step 2: Make confetti
Our small town didn’t have any confetti in the right colors- so I cut up streamers, tissue paper and crepe paper into pieces to make my own.
Step 3: Fill
I rolled up money and just layered confetti and money and confetti and money in both the tops and bottoms of the bottle. You can use a cup to place the top part of the bottle in to keep it upright.
I wanted it to look full- so I really packed it in. You can add in your favorite candy or some fun noise makers too!
Step 4: Reattach
Once both sides are filled to the brim- I add a little piece of packing tape. I wanted to try to match up the pop bottles as closely as I could- luckily when you peel off the packaging- there is some white pieces still stuck on! I used these as a guide. You have to flip over and try not to spill and just get one side stuck to the tape- I really only lost a few confetti pieces! Then just add tape all the way around to secure!
Step 5: Decorate your graduation gift idea
Then I grabbed some scrapbook paper and cut it down to size and wrapped around the bottle to hide the tape. I also added one of my printables CONGRATS GRAD! (down Below!) BUT if you have a graduation paper plates- you can cut up the sayings on those and use them as decorations too! I also made a tassel out of embroidery floss (the whole tutorial for these are here!)
Last but not least- Surprise your graduate with the cutest gift!
I did make a reel on Instagram if you want to watch a quick video of me making it! (come follow me on IG- Agirlandagluegun)
