Today I have a super cheap–but totally cute and unique craft for you! A DIY paper scroll sign! It’s so cheap you can whip up one for each season, birthdays, parties. You can also go BIG…or small! Options are endless!Â
I grabbed all the supplies at Hobby Lobby! (I actually had the black vinyl on hand but HB has some if you need it.) and of course the garland is optional!
How to make the paper scroll
I have made all of these with one roll of the kraft gift wrap (and I have a ton left!)Â The basic idea is cut three parts. I cut three pieces all about the same size.
(size is going to be up to you. I made a huge one, medium, and small one). The paper naturally rolls. So for the top and bottom…I just let it roll and then hot glued it to keep it together.Â
I added the lettering before I attached the top or bottom (that way if I mess up–I just had to recut the main piece) Then I just hot glued the rolls on the top and bottom.Â
The bigger ones I added a dowel and attached ribbon to the sides to hang. BUT the smaller ones aren’t that heavy so I just ran some twine or ribbon through it to hang.
So this first one is HUGE–it was my trial run…and I rolled to top back instead of forward but I like the both rolls forward.Â
Another fun twist is to tear the bottom and leave off the second roll.
The greenery is also optional–just fun to add some decorations!
How to do the lettering!!!
I did 3 ways–because I like to give you options! First up is VINYL! Perfect if you don’t like your handwriting–quick TIP…when you are putting on the transfer tape–it’s sticky and can rip the paper. I take the piece of transfer tape and stick it to my shirt or couch or something to get it a little dirty and not as sticky..then I put on the vinyl and stick it to my Kraft paper sign!
You can also just draw one on with sharpie!
