Mixed pattern knit skirt-Four Corner fabrics.

I’m such a lucky duck! Today I get to participate in Simple Simon and Co’s Four Corners Fabric tour! (I’m actually just a lucky duck for knowing Simple Simon and Co! Love those two girls! and can you believe they designed this Amazing Fabric!?I’ve been wanting to make this Mixed print skirt for a while…this girl at church showed up wearing a skirt that had a different front panel than the back…and it was so freakin cute! The hard part was It takes me forever to pick fabric–It’s so hard to mix and match..something that isn’t totally matchy matchy–but still goes together! And the four corners fabric is PERFECT! Everything goes with everything! All the colors are amazing. The patterns are big and small and there are circles, arrows, geometric! basically perfection in a fabric. If only simple simon could design a man (wink)

I chose the grays–but they have an awesome black and multi color in knit!I have a knit skirt (thank you old navy) that I love and fits perfect…so I use it as my pattern…Just cut around leaving seam allowance (and be aware of the patterns!)Or you can use Simple Simon and co’s method…Head HERE- if you don’t have a pencil skirt you love already!

I took a strip of fabric and wrapped it around myself pulling tight and pinning (I don’t like using elastic….so by pulling it really tight it will act as a waistband and keep your skirt up.)So you have a back panel, front panel and waistband…(I hemmed and hawed for 3 days at this point on which dang pattern I wanted on my Derriere. When sewing with knit…these Stretch needles for you sewing machine are MAGIC!!!

and attached waistband. The Waistband is smaller than the skirt so I measure it out into fourths and pin front/back and sides.And as I sew, I pull the waistband so they are both taut and sew.

I love it (mostly cause of the fabric) but even husband LOVES it! (and that is saying something!)

Funny behind the scenes: I loved the colors of this tree–But it was on a busy busy street. So what you don’t see is me standing there be all posing while 100 cars go by–#awkward.
And then I thought…this fabric would be totalllllly fun as leggings….(I cut up a holy pair of my daughter’s leggings for this pattern. I’ve made her about 10 using it. So even if you bought cheap leggings at walmart just to cut up and use as a pattern it will be well worth it!
