I have a cute little Valentines shirt made out of vinyl–and guess what? You DON’T NEED A VINYL CUTTER TO MAKE IT!
Don’t get me wrong! I love my Silhouette Cameo–but sometimes it nice to whip up a nice and easy project with just some scissors!
I got these super cute valentines vinyl bundles from Expressions Vinyl! All the colors coordinate and look so pretty together!
You can grab the adhesive vinyl pack here
and the heat transfer pack here!
How to make a Valentine’s shirt with vinyl
I laid them out to find a patterned I liked.
I wanted a heart (so she could wear it for Valentine’s DAy–but it’s not SUPER Valentine’s day themed so she can sport it year round too) You could totally do this with a cloud, star or initial shape too! I cut out a template with paper so I could see how the vinyl would look all together!
I cut each color into strips.
and laid them out.
Then I covered them with blue painters tape to keep the strips all straight so I could cut out the heart shape.
Now…you could just flip it over and iron it to the shirt. But I wasn’t SUPER exact about lining them up and I didn’t want any vinyl to get stuck on the carrier sheet of the vinyl strip next to it!
So I just peeled them off the blue painter’s tape and ironed them on piece by piece!
I don’t like my iron (or easypress) to touch the vinyl without the carrier sheet–so after I peeled up the carrier sheet–I would place the next vinyl strip down and then cover it with a multi-use paper . I press each strip for only about 4 seconds–and then after it was all placed–I pressed it for 15 seconds to get them all stuck on!
and there you go! A cute little Valentine’s shirt with vinyl that anyone can make!
