Cover up a logo with iron on vinyl

Don’t follow your dreams guys…follow my blog! Ha! My sister found this in a store and sent me a screenshot of it! I knew I had to make one for me! But the fun part about it is —

I don’t know about you–but I end up with tons of logo shirts. This one by bluehost is the softest perfect fit ever! People kept asking me what bluehost was –they host wordpress blogs-but most non bloggers don’t know anything about hosts so it took pretty long to explain! Anyways…since I have access to lots of pretty colors of Heat transfer vinyl from Expressions Vinyl–it’s an easy fix!

You need to start with cutting a shape that covers the initial logo on the shirt. Heart, stars, circles, squares, triangles, These are all super popular right now! My daughter actually has a shirt with just a big heart on it. Nothing else…So you could stop right here if you need too. (and you wouldn’t even need to use an electronic cutter! Just some scissors!) But I wanted this saying. So This particular designs involving layering vinyl.

The Smooth heat transfer vinyl can be layered on—so that will need to be bottom layer. You can layer glitter vinyl on top… but the glitter is thick so nothing can be layered on top of it!

Heat transfer is a little tricky. You actually cut on the back side of the vinyl and you need to mirror your image before you cut it…(so you cut it backwards!) (I used a Silhouette Cameo)

Lay your first shape over your logo–You just need to a quick set….Just get enough adhesion to peel off the top carrier sheet (about 3 seconds with an iron) Then get your next layer ready…Weed away all the vinyl that isn’t part of the designLay it on the top of the bottom layer (get it centered just how you want it) Make sure that all parts of the vinyl is covered with the plastic carrier sheet–So if the words or top vinyl layer is smaller make sure to cover ALL of the design so it doesn’t melt on to the iron! (the carrier sheet protects the vinyl from the iron) Press it for 15 seconds all over. (so this took a minute…4 spots!) Peel up the carrier sheet to make sure all the parts are stuck. (if any part doesn’t have a good adhesion lay the carrier sheet back down and press again!)Then you get to wear your new comfortable shirt!
