This orginally posted over at washi tape crafts…the cutest site devoted to my newest obsession! WASHI!
For Mother’s day all I wanted was for my husband to build me a craft desk. It took us about 2 hours in home depot to pick the right size piece of wood…and finally opted for this one that was already finished with white (aka…i didn’t have to paint. score 2 points for me)
But it did leave me this awesome (not awesome) unfinished edge.
My husband wanted to get all fancy and go back to home depot and buy that iron on edge finisher…but I turned to my new favorite craft medium!! WASHI TAPE! It’s a fairly new obsession…and my little town doesn’t sale it in very many varieties..but anytime I find some I HAVE to buy it!!! I keep it in my cookie jar…
cause it’s better than any sweets you could put in them!!!!
I knew that the washi tape would need a little help to prevent it from peeling down–so I coated it with a layer of mod podge! It was the perfect size…no need to trim!
Makes such a difference!!!
My craft room is slow and steady coming along….
I used the same washi tape to add a frame to my chalkboard wall
and around some bookshelves edges (which are both in my craft room…so it all matches!)

Great Idea to mod podge to prevent peeling – I’ll need to remember that at Christmas this year when I pull out all the close pins I used to put up all the Christmas card we get as after 3 years the washi will really be peeling. Thanks!
