How to sew a Car Quilt
Soon as I had this idea….I immediately went out and bought the fabric for it….cause I do that…(seriously. I could craft for about a year and half and would never have to buy supplies.)
I cut all the brown road pieces 3 inches….to make it all even. and i worked my way down….I’m not a super measurer precise person. so i just eyeballed it and sewed as i went to make sure it was “close enough” kinda my sewing motto…”yeah..it’s close enough.”
i made 12 squares. i thought it would was easier to break it down to squares so you aren’t super overwhelmed.
here’s the order how i sewed the pieces…
it makes it so you just have to make nice straight lines. after I had all 12 squares I sewed them to finally get my quilt together..
then I added some car patches…
and stitched a couple houses around for fun…
Then I sewed all along the road to make the look of the lines of the road.
IÂ had a moment of crap this is going to be ugllllly.
but IÂ actually really like how it turned out!!!

This is great! I'm all about useful beyond babyness. I recently made a nephew a quilt with hidden animals and things hidden in a jungle. It kept my five year old busy even half made.
And I am so with you on close enough. Quilting should be fun not stressful.
