hearts!

so today i’m showing how i made my fun hearts for sytyc…(the tutorial for the print is tomorrow!)

but first:

i was instant messaging my old college roomie (i would insert embarrassing picture of us in college here but it’s downstairs…..and i’m upstairs.

and i’m lazy.

but she is an avid book reader. and you see..i used to love books. i have let it fall to the wayside though cause i’ve been crafting  with all my spare time.

but i want to start reading again! so i asked her what book she recommends….and she tells me she read this one in two days and loved it…

and then i got to thinking…if i have limited time..i’m going to ask people what there favorites books are..pin them on pinterest and slowly wade through them.

and i did.

and i even got a nice unexpected surprise. people comment which ones they loved on my pins!

what i’m very slowly getting to is TELL ME YOUR FAVORIEST BOOK!!!!! Here’s the link to my pinterest board if you want to check out people’s favorites thus far….or leave a comment if you have read one and loved it..

i HAVE read hunger games (so excited for the movie)
twilight
the host
every mary higgins clark
every john grisham
every stephanie plum.

i also have a very strict rule about movies from books. i refuse to watch the movie before i read the book…and then i usually HATE the movie cause it doesn’t follow the book accuretly. but i hate watching a movie and then reading the a book and not being able to visualize the characters from my imagination and all i can see is reese witherspoon and the twilight dude (who looks so much better non-pale)

okay. back to the show…

these hearts are about the easiest things to make…it’s a fantastic way to use up your scraps…

and they use a glue gun! yipee!!!!

so grab all your fun colored fabric or scraps…
you will also need some sticks (i’m using skewers that i got at walmart for a dollar)

fold fabric in half and cut out two hearts…

(by folding it in half you get two exact same hearts!)

on the wrong side of one you are going to put a stream of hot glue around the edge (except the bottom)

place other heart on top so wrong sides are together and press around the edges until glue dries…

open up the bottom and stuff it with scraps (or stuffing)

y

when it’s all full stick in your skewer and hot glue the opening closed.

and that’s it! super easy!
so tomorrow is the tutorial for the more and less print….
and friday is all about these painted jars!
