I’m going to quote from one of my favoritest movies:
It’s not an etch-a-sketch. This is one doodle you can’t undid.
And this has really nothing to do with nothing except I am using etching stuff today. And once you etch…it can’t be undid.
Oh yes, we are going to etch our little names into pyrex cooking pans! And I have been wanting to do this FOREVER! I’m super anal about my stuff. When I take it somewhere I am nervous someone is going to walk off with my pan. Well, FEAR NO MORE! (and I know this is not a new concept..I’ve seen it around. But I’m still doing it. call me a rebel.)
And if you happen to have your etching stuff out…and a fish… (okay, just love this project…)
Kelli @ RTSM says
I have seen these around lately, but you made it so much more fun than just adding your last name!! I love the oh darn it's all gone one:)
Heather says
OMG, you make me laugh over your antics. Love the etched phrases! Too bad none of my pans are glass….I may need to invest so I can be a smart ass too 🙂
Chris says
I have always wanted to try this~
Mandy @ Sugar Bee Craft Edition says
I recently discovered etching too – LOVE it. And FYI, you don't even need that fancy transfer stuff – I just used a roll of contact paper I had (ran it right through my Silhouette) – –
Amber Starr says
I love etching projects! Your's are too funny! I recently got a silhouette and cannot wait to use it to etch several containers/vases that I own.

Is it just me, or are some of your phrases really rude?

I must make that "This is not your pan" Pan NOW! Thanks for the AWESOME ideas, Kimbo!

Kimbo-when I did this a year ago for a Christmas present for my daughter, the glass etching messed up my porcelain sink. Did you have any problem rinsing it off?
I love them all btw. Very creative and fun!

DUDE…I was just telling my hubs last night that I've recently lost 3 (yep 3, bc I had to buy more bc the other ones never got returned) glass pans, in the name of service (taking meals to other families)! I SOOOOooo need to do this. for. reals! I think your sayings are great 🙂
Tiggeriffic says
Oh my goodness, this looks so fun.. You are right..I think etching is a good thing especially when your 9×9 glassware leaves your house.

First of all, LOVE the movie Juno. My smart husband bought it for me at Christmas…so as soon as I read your post, I popped it in. Still amazing.
Second of all, Etching is on my 2011 to do list. I like your "If you can read this you ate too much". Hilarious. I told my husband that I was going to etch "Sometimes I pee in this pan" on a pan He wasn't amused.
I like your blog, because I can see myself doing a lot of the things you do…Maturity is not my strong point: http://youseriouslymadethat.blogspot.com/2011/01/finger-stache.html
Case and Point.
Thanks for all the laughs.

LOL! I LOOOOVE these! Hey if ever you take a pan of nachos to a social event you could write "This is NACHO pan" LOL
Courtney Elizabeth says
I think they are hilarious! I'm wondering if my boyfriend will let me do this to all of our glass pans and bowls. I'm going to have to buy more etching cream, because I'm almost out and I'm thinking that like you, once I start, I won't be able to stop.
jill says
ok, these are hilarious. I did these for a church supersaturday activity with last names…your phrases are SO much more fun.
Oh, and I just used my vinyl…you just weed out the letters then stick it on the pan. It pulled right off when it was done drying!
BTW, I don't think I have ever commented, but I LOVE your blog.

1. I love your blog.
2. I think your sayings are funny and wish I had the guts to put them on one of my pans. 😉
3. If you don't like something on a blog, why would you even bother posting a comment? Seems like a waste of time to me.
4. I just got my Silhouette delivered today and I am itching to do some of these etchings– should probably practice with paper first!
5. Thanks for all the funny posts and AWESOME ideas!

I love these. I went to the dollar tree and picked up big beer mugs…etched guys names in it. A 4 pack of mugs cost me $4. Of course I filled each one with a bag of…caramel corn, roasted nuts, fudge and buckeyes. They looked really good all packaged up!
But why didn't anyone make me a pan like this for Christmas? I've got a glass pie pan. I think I'll write…GO RUN on the bottom. 🙂

Another thing to add to my list of crafty things I want to do someday. Oh and thanks for the reminder about the mustache glasses, I was almost over the mustache thing but now I need to revisit it 🙂 Oh yea, and you. are. awesome.

I"m just a lazy cheapskate and use the $ store disposable pans. lol, they can find their way anywhere BUT back to my house! But these are super cute. We had done this for SS and I opted out because I don't use my pans for church events, but just for the laugh these would be fun!
Krafty Kat says
Wow- you went etching crazy! I don't blame you- I would have too! Love the one that says "This is not your pan!" I laughed thru your whole post!
Donna says
OMG, love this idea! Especially love the phrase…if you can read this you ate too much. Really cute! You'll have to report back on any comments you get taking these to the next potluck.

I made some of these for my sister-in-laws' for Christmas and put their last name on the pans. That way when they go to a potluck, everyone will know it is not their pan. 🙂 I like the sayings you used though! 🙂 So fun!

These are so fun. Great job. I am really a cheapie and just buy clear contact paper at walmart. Huge roll and works great. Cut on my silhouette just like transfer paper. Totally addicting.

LOVE this idea!

I DID IT!!!!!! I etched almost every pan, bowl and pitcher in our home!!! You have probably saved many friendships with this one single project. I've seen the women at church get pretty ugly over what pan belongs to whom.
THANK YOU for this GREAT IDEA!!! Now I can loan pans and not worry so much! Take casseroles to church dinners and keep my friends!!!
YEA!!!

P.S. I freaking LOVE your blog! So craptastic! 😉

Found you through 'hate mail' and LOVE this. I'm TOTALLY bloglifting it. But, I must say I am copying what Cami said"… I told my husband that I was going to etch "Sometimes I pee in this pan" on a pan He wasn't amused."
Cami that's perfect to take to my foodie meetings. Thank you both!

Glad I am not the only one who makes a huge cricut mess!
LOL I will have to do this to my pans… my mom always tries to claim them or they almost get picked up at pot luck
Ashley says
I found this post from My Favorite Hate Mail. Love your sayings on the pans!
Kirsten says
LOVE these pans. I have etched plates, saucers, glasses, and even a glass table but never thought to do pans. As someone who is frugal (AKA cheap) I thought I would share that the etching cream can be reused. Instead of washing it off, scrape off what you can while being careful not to spread it onto the unmasked glass. I use a foam brush or a popsicle stick to scrape and return to the bottle. Then rinse away the small amount that remains. I have had the same tiny bottle of etching cream for about 5 years now.
Lynne says
Love it! What font did you use for the “oh it’s all gone”.
Thanks
Kimbo says
I don’t remember! sorry! I had a cricut and it was just a font that came with the cartridge!
Lynne says
Thanks for getting back to me. I too am using a cricut – do you happen know which cartridge it was? Thanks
