And I totally love the look of them… but I noticed at my last trip to target that the ripped denim was being patched with denim behind….and I loved it. Nobody wants to see Kimbo’s thigh. Not even Kimbo’s husband. And so I whipped up an easy fix so I can have some target style!.
It’s literally turning them inside out and grabbing some scrap levi (you can buy levi fabric at Joann–but I just keep some scraps from my Levi Apron and hot glue them around and trim them up! (I love using this glue gun! by far my favorite!)
The video will be helpful!
(and if you want you can subscribe to my youtube channel! I‘m trying to get it up and going!
Easy fix! And they will wash up great! (just make sure that all the hot glue is covered by the patch!)
I used some pink fabric to patch my daughter’s shorts…but after the fact I realized they probably will come across looking like pink underwear! So maybe stick some fun colors on the knees and not the bum!
You can head here to see how to add a little lace!

I know this blog is about a glue gun but it really isn’t a good solution to this problem. The glue gun glue will dry hard and over time it will crack. A better solution is a fabric glue that still has some give when it is fully cured. The one that I am familiar with is called Fabritac but I’m sure there are others.
I also prefer to use tshirt fabric for my patches. It is thinner, softer and more flexible than denim and it won’t fray along the edges. (If a spot has already ripped once there is likely a lot of stress on it so a flexible patch is preferable to an inflexible one.)

I have done this and washed my pants over 20 times…no cracking and hardness!
