I got this crazy idea when I was almost asleep (the creative hour in my head) and I woke up the next morning and headed to Joann to buy the fabric to carry it out.
and then got stuck. I knew what I wanted the end results to be…but wasn’t quite sure how to get it there.
I gave a sneak peak on my fabric choices over on instagram (follow me! agirlandagluegun)
and of course you need a hook, zipper, button, snap, velcro….whatever….
and since I like color…I Â did color. (the snaps are sew on…and the overall hooks screwed on and didn’t require any special tool)
I laid it out…where I wanted to make sure it fit…and then paired it with fabric to make sure it all looked good together. I bought this fabric..but this part is actually great for using up your scraps!Â
Then Cut your purse pieces…Mine were about 12 inches by 24..but once you get all your stuff laid it out it could be smaller or bigger! Just go with the flow man. You need a front..and a back…and a stabilizer piece.
I sewed everything on. You want to make sure to not get so close to the edge…leave about 3 inches. and about an inch at the top for handles and bias tape. (I only sewed this on to the front piece…and the stabilizer. The inside fabric (pink) was added later. So all the stitching is hidden.
add some bias tape across the top. (you can buy this…or make your own go HERE) I made mine really small.
Pin up sides and sew. (this is right sides out) Sew really close to the edge. Then flip it so right sides are in…and sew the sides up again. Make sure the seam is big enough to overlap the first seam. This will give you nice finished edges.
Take each corner and smoosh out….and add a stitch to make  a triangle.
When you turn it back to right sides out….This stitch will give it a nice corner and room to fill your purse with “treasures”
Love the fun pops! You could totally add a pocket on the inside…I filled this bag with fun “purse things” like a hair brush, chapstick, a little mirror, and a play cell phone and gave it to my 2 year old niece for her birthday!
I really wanted to make each tab a pocket to store things…but I didn’t know how to do without making the purse HUGE!

Thank you for the wonderful idea! I have been trying to find one more item to make my toddler for Christmas, because it’s only November and I just can’t possibly be done already. This is going to be perfect and I won’t even have to leave my house to make it!
